For Padmé Amidala, her final chapter was written not necessarily by the tragedy of Mustafar but instead by the pen of E.K. Johnston. Queen's Hope rounds out Johnston’s Queen's Trilogy that has followed the adventures of Naboo’s most famous Senator and her fearless band of handmaidens. Queen's Shadow and Queen's Peril took the Star Wars publishing community by storm by retroactively reshaping the prequel films through the lens of Padmé and her allies, and after such riveting success, Queen’s Hope had quite the legend to live up to. Part TWO of the Queen's Hope roundtable will conclude with overarching questions and Easter egg finds that will challenge your Star Wars EU knowledge! Reading is one of the earliest forms of education in our lives and lifted our love for adventure and storytelling. Star Wars books were not the first to grace our eyes, but we've all been on a winding journey to get us to the cold ice world of Hoth or the lava soaked core of Mustafar. The TLF crew will discuss their road to reading Star Wars books, pitfalls that keep us from reading regularly, and ways to make it a healthy habit for you and your family. To help you on your reading journey, Youtini has selected Five Foundational Books that every Star Wars fan should read first. These novels give readers an excellent idea of what the EU has to offer, spanning picks from both Canon and Legends timelines as well as important eras in publication history. However, over recent years Star Wars has come out with incredible Canon novels that might throw a hydrospanner into our original plans. Our hosts will revisit the selection process of how the original Foundational Five was formed and if there is a strong argument to replace a book on the list or even add in a sixth pillar to the fold! The earliest stories that expanded on the Star Wars cinematic films are now draped in an infamous gold banner we call Legends. From Darth Bane and Jacen Solo to fan-favorite being crushed by a moon, these early books gave us incredible stories that catapulted the successful Star Wars expanded universe. Jared Mayes from Legends Lookback and Emma Parke from the Cosmic Force join the TLF crew to discuss what the Essential Legends Collection is, the strategy of starting your first Legends experience, and what we think the future of the collection will reveal.
