Much of life looks good at first, but fails to provide in the end. God provides of way of living that leads to peace, purpose, and happiness. In this week's study, we'll look at several topics where God provides direct instructions for better living. 

God understands how life works because He created us. In the book of Proverbs, God wants to give us insight for living that will enable us to avoid many of life's pitfalls and enjoy many of life's pleasures. 

Sin enslaves us, but Jesus has paid the price to set us free. Before Jesus was born, Zechariah prophesied about the redemption that He would accomplish. In this week's Bible study you will learn what it means for us to be redeemed and get an inside look at how God reveals His plans to His people.   

God is at work in our world. From the beginning God has been working to redeem us and give us eternal life with Him. The Bible records key moments when God acted on our behalf in an extraordinary way. Zechariah and Elizabeth saw one of these moments as God gave them a son who would be the forerunner of Jesus. At first Zechariah struggled to believe, but later he trusted God and obeyed. The experience of Zechariah and Elizabeth teaches us that when God acts, we should listen.    

God has given us the stories of people of faith so that we might learn from them how to trust in Him. Mary believes God and therefore sets out on a journey to visit Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. Mary shows us that belief leads to action and that a believing life is a blessed life. The angel Gabriel appeared to the virgin Mary with an announcement that was not only good news to her, but it good news to us as well. In this week's Bible study we examine Luke's account of Gabriel's announcement of the birth of Jesus and consider what it means for us today. 

An angel appeared to Zechariah and revealed that God would answer his prayer by giving him a son, but instead of rejoicing at the news Zechariah asked for a sign to help him believe. If great men like Zechariah sometimes struggle to trust God, perhaps we too need some help in this area. In this week's Bible study, you'll find encouragement to trust God for all of His promises as we explore Luke 1:18-25. 

Often people believe that God wants to hinder them in life by piling on rules and regulations. Nothing could be farther from the truth. God intervenes in our life to bring us joy. The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth demonstrates how God often intervenes at unexpected times and in unexpected ways. Be encouraged by the wonderful intentions of God as you learn to wait on Him. 

Luke wrote his Gospel so we could know for certain who Jesus was, what He said, and what He did. In this study we'll explore how Luke gathered reliable information from eyewitnesses and corroborating accounts of the life of Jesus. Join me for a study that will encourage you in the faith.
