In this episode, I talk with Iris Cullinan, a career and business coach based in Asheville, North Carolina. Iris shares how she faced her fear of failure in a non-obvious way ... namely, by resolving to quit her job and travel the world for two months! In the process, she found herself stuck in traffic on a bus in Nepal for the better part of a whole day, totally sure she was going to wake up in the middle of the night to find the bus tumbling down the side of a mountain. Instead, she not only survived (yay!), but she found a well of resilience she might not have ever discovered if she'd stayed on the "supposed to do this" path in Boston.
The J.K. Rowling quote she mentions at the end is: "It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default." This is from her commencement address at Harvard, the full text of which is here: https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2008/06/text-of-j-k-rowling-speech/.
