What if prayer became more than our last resort?

We all know what it feels like to pray desperate prayers when life gets difficult. But what would it look like to develop a life of prayer before the desperation comes?

Throughout Scripture, we see that prayer changes things. Jesus modeled a life of prayer, and we’re called to do the same. If we want to see a move of God, our prayer life needs to match the vision we have for what God wants to do.

Prayer is not just an event—it is a life we get to develop.

In this message, we’ll look at five ways we can develop a life of prayer:

Have a Time — Make prayer a priority and create space to meet with God.

Give God Thanks — Learn to recognize and thank God for what He is doing.

Open Your Heart to What God Has — Bring your desires to God while surrendering to His will.

Believe God Can Do It — Pray with faith and trust that God is able to move.

Keep Showing Up — Develop a consistent prayer life, even when you don’t immediately see the results.

We’ll also look at the prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9–10 and how one simple prayer can teach us to ask God to bless us, expand our territory, guide us, and keep us through trouble and pain.

The goal isn’t simply to pray more when we need something from God. The goal is to develop a life where prayer is our first response—not our last resort.

Seeking God in a New Season | The Local

New seasons bring new questions, new decisions, and often new worries. But what if instead of allowing our worries to lead us, we chose to seek God above everything else?

In this message, we explore the powerful story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3:10–28, where they are commanded to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image or be thrown into a blazing furnace. Despite the threat, they boldly declare in Daniel 3:17–18 that God is able to deliver them—but even if He doesn’t, they will not compromise their faith.

As the story unfolds (Daniel 3:18–20, 24–25), the king orders the furnace to be heated hotter than ever—but instead of being destroyed, the men are seen walking unharmed in the fire, with a fourth figure among them. Their faith leads to a miraculous moment that ultimately causes the king to honor God.

This message challenges us to examine our own faith in light of today’s culture, reminding us to stand firm and trust God—no matter the outcome.
