Great podcast this week with Pedro Sauer Black Belt Chris Holmes.
We covered so many topics but really dug into the secrets to progressing students and helping them develop their skills. We also discussed Chris's time as a correctional officer and how self defence is important in law enforcement but also how competition for some people can help simulate a stressful situation.
If you would like to check out Chris's academy log on to https://agogiac.com/
We had the great pleasure of talking this week to Kathy Ortiz, Pedro Sauer Black Belt.
Kathy is a strong advocate for women's self defence and not only teaches a women's class but has researched the statistics behind attacks to gain the best knowledge of how to structure her programs.
We really enjoyed this chat that also discussed concepts of Jiu Jitsu and the benifits of training.
Kathy mentioned two books worth reading which are: The New Super Power For Women - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M34FV1N/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
The Gift Of Fear -

In this episode we welcome back Kristen DeBruycker. We focused on the difficult topic of women's safety and the role that Gracie Jiu Jitsu can play in developing confidence and a greater ability to stay safe.
It was fantastic to get a Female perspective on this topic and get a greater understanding.
Kristen is head instructor at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Charlottesville and is available at https://graciecharlottesville.com/
She is also available for seminars and zoom classes.
This week we welcome back Pedro Sauer Black Belt, Randy McElwee.
We got to talk about a lot of the things we didn't get round to asking last time Randy was on like his school and his programmes, the lessons he learned from his Special Forces career, teaching self defense and the changes in Jiu Jitsu from the early days.
We also chatted about the growth of the Pedro Sauer Association and some of the plans for the future. www.pedrosauer.com

We go without a guest this week to talk through whats been on our minds this week.
We discuss if Jiu Jitsu really sheds the ego or if it can resurface. We also cover the really important topic of how should i train for Jiu Jitsu and Pete has a bit of a rant.
This week we talk to our long term friend Halldor.
We talk about how in Iceland they can train properly again and how Covid has effected training. We also talk about some concepts for staying safe and escaping mount and thought processes for rolling.
Halldor is now teaching at 5 Aces Jiu Jisu at the National Judo Academy in Reykjavik. If you ever find yourself in Iceland look him up.
Was our great pleasure to chat to Professor Alan Baker who is the school owner of Atlanta Martial Arts.

Alan studies with the best martial artists out there such as Master Pedro Sauer, Sifu Francis Fong, Eric Paulson to name just a few and really embodies the warrior path. Had been looking forward to this and it did not dissapoint.
