This week The Locker Room Podcast put a microscope on the topic of mental health in the black community. This podcast features special guest Licensed Clinical Specialist Ms. Keisha Bachelor and PhD student and soon to be doctor Mr. Kendall Moody.
We kicked off this podcast with a sports report from host Darius Ferguson on the Univ. of Maryland Terrapins former football coach and there was healthy discussion about the greatest Quarter Back in NFL history Mr. Tom Brady. Also to put a stamp on every podcast Shak came with a good wild card question for the Outside the Locker Room segment. Last but not the least the focus of this podcast was mental health and stigmas surrounding the black community.
When you hear someone bring up the subject of mental health its usually followed up by somebody calling another person “CRAZY”. In this episode the question was asked, why are people shying away from talking about this issue and why are people afraid of seeking help? There are a number of ways anyone can suffer from mental health. Press play and tune in to find out how our guest experts in the mental health field dispel the myths surrounding mental health in the black community. These two define mental health, break down symptoms of mental health, why getting help is the right thing to do, and why those who are experiencing mental health issues should confront the problems with professional help instead of ignoring it.
