Sarah Davachi is an experimental musician specialized in the study of timbre and space. She mainly plays long, minimalist drones on the organ or synthesizers. Hailing from Calgary, Canada, she now lives in California where she completed her doctorate in musicology. Extremely prolific, she has released more than ten albums in a few years, not counting live performances, cassettes, soundtracks and other compilations.
As part of the
Nuits du Botanique festival, Sarah Davachi played earlier this year on the organ of the Dominican church
in Brussels. In her improvised green room, we talked about what pop music can learn from Renaissance music, playing in churches, Bandcamp and her new instrument: the Berkeley gamelan.
