1 Kings 8: 12-66

Solomon blesses the assembly and offers a heartfelt dedicatory prayer for the temple, acknowledging that even the highest heavens cannot contain God. He asks the Lord to hear His people’s prayers, forgive their sins, and remain faithful to His covenant. The dedication closes with great sacrifices and a joyful feast of celebration across Israel.

1 Kings 7 & 8:1-11 

"Solomon completes his palace and the temple’s furnishings, including the bronze pillars Jachin and Boaz, the large basin called the Sea, and the golden vessels. The temple is then dedicated as the ark of the covenant is brought into the Most Holy Place, and the glory of the Lord fills the house like a cloud."

1 Kings 5&6 

Solomon partners with King Hiram of Tyre to gather materials for the temple, then begins construction of the magnificent house of the Lord in Jerusalem. These chapters detail the temple's design, dimensions, and craftsmanship, marking the fulfillment of God's promise to David that his son would build a house for God's name.

1 Kings 4 

A look at Solomon's flourishing kingdom: his officials, the daily provisions for his household, and the peace and prosperity Israel enjoyed under his reign. The chapter highlights Solomon's God-given wisdom, renowned throughout the nations, and the abundance of the golden age of Israel.

1 Kings 3 

Solomon becomes king and, instead of asking God for wealth or long life, requests wisdom to govern God's people well. Pleased with his request, God grants him wisdom, riches, and honor. The chapter closes with Solomon's famous judgment between two women claiming the same child — proof of the wisdom God gave him.

King David is old and dying — and his son Adonijah makes a move to steal the throne. But Nathan the prophet and Bathsheba act fast to secure God's promise: Solomon will be king.
