Just hours after Mary Magdalene found the tomb of Jesus empty a group of travelers run into him on the road to Emmaus. These folks dont recognize him and he plays dumb as he gets them to recount the events of the last few days. Only when these kind folks invite him home for dinner do they realize who they have been chatting with! They were surprised! How about us, how do we respond when life throws us a few surprises?

We begin Holy Week by celebrating Palm Sunday. Jesus humbly entered Jerusalem not  majestically but on a donkey. We can learn so much from this story about humbling ourselves and 'emptying'' ourselves of negative things in our lives. How can we 'empty' ourselves and pick up our cross and follow him?

Jesus said to a group of his followers, " I am the Bread of Life." This really confused them.  This caused some followers to run.  Christ put up a barrier that his followers had to face. How do we face barriers in our lives today? Do we try to go around them, so we don't have to deal with it? Or do we muster up our faith and climb over it? Once we learn to climb over, we can then reach a new height and get out of the shadows of our lives.
