Threshold: Exploring Faith, Creativity, and Beauty in the In-Between

The loneliness of theology instead of care

Listen Later

What do we do with theology when it collides with suffering? For years, I kept quiet in small groups when I heard simplistic or shallow takes on faith. But after walking through trauma, the stakes of “bad theology” around pain felt personal. The answers I heard in church circles often left me feeling more alone, not comforted.

In this episode of Threshold, I share my own story of how trauma reshaped my theology—and why presence matters more than polished explanations.

In this episode, I talk about:

✨The damaging theology that suggests God harms us in order to heal us

✨How trauma changes the way we hear common Christian answers about suffering

✨What it looks like to wrestle with faith in the middle of darkness

✨Why people don’t need theological positions in suffering—they need presence

✨How I’ve experienced God’s care, not through answers, but through his nearness

This is an episode for anyone who has ever left a church conversation feeling unseen in their pain—or who wants to learn how to love people better through suffering.
