The Western Australian Marine Science Institution has unveiled new plans to focus research efforts on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Shark Bay region to protect the site.

This comes after reports of dying sealife which, if left untreated could cause irreversible damage.

WAMSI research director and the report’s chief author Dr Jenny Shaw told Jo McManus on Perth Live climate change is one of the biggest threats to the region.

6PR’s very own news reporter, Erin Harwood is swimming her second Rottnest Swim tomorrow to raise money for a cause close to her heart, the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS).

This will be her Kalgoorlie team's 15th attempt to cross the channel to raise money for the RFDS.
