This week, Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church in the continuation of "The Crown and the Cross" series. Reading from Mark 2:23-3:6, Pastor Jason teaches about a couple of instances when Jesus and His disciples did not observe the Sabbath, the holy day of rest, in a way the religious leaders believed to be the key to gaining God's grace. Ever since the Book of Law had been written, the religious leaders, Pharisees, viewed worshiping God as a list of rules and laws to follow, which eventually caused it to become a burden to them. When they confront Jesus, He points out that the detailed religious rules are causing them to miss the intent of the gospel He is preaching. If you believe in a God that has given His grace, we do not need to prove ourselves worthy. We should delight in carrying forth His Word because of the burdens God had taken away from us, not burdens He has put upon us.
