Revelation 3:14-22 highlights Jesus message to the church at Laodicea. Though materially wealthy, they are spiritually poor, blind, and naked. Jesus tells them—and us—to be zealous for Him alone.

They may not have been a particularly impressive church on the outside, but they were known for their endurance in difficult seasons of life. Jesus commends this church and challenges them to look forward to His beautiful promises in the future.

Of all the things that could be said about a church, nothing could be more precious than, “that is a church that loves Jesus fervently.” Scripture tells us that there are some churches that cannot be described that way. Why would a church stop loving Jesus? And what, if anything, can be done about it? Fortunately for us, Revelation 2:1-7 provides an answer.

In Revelation 1-3, Jesus sends seven messages to seven churches. This vision of the Apostle John is about loving Jesus and the church. Our text this weekend highlights Jesus as He tells us to persevere in Him, to worship Him privately and with His people, and to serve His church. If you aren't, it's probably due to fear. But Jesus says to fear not, for He is with us.

As we head into a new year, it is appropriate for us to ask, "How does Jesus want us to live the next 365 days together?"The answer, at least in part, is in HARMONY with each other. Our text this weekend reminds us what it takes to not only achieve harmony, but how to maintain it.
