Pastor Jason describes how Jesus is questioning some of the practices observed by the church at the time, which were not rooted in Scripture. The religious leaders had created rules associated with the Bible, but not found in or supported by Scripture. These were not written in God's name but in man's, and men were judging others based on how well they followed the rules that they themselves had written. The true intentions of these men was to glorify themselves, rather than go bring glory to God, but they believed that their laws were the desire of God. Jesus tells us we must honor God's Word. We cannot allow ourselves to claim to follow Jesus and then reject the Scriptures which are the basis of His entire life's work.

We cannot pick and choose the teachings of Jesus we subscribe to and the ones we choose to ignore, even though everyone is tempted to do just that. As followers of Christ we must trust in Jesus that if there are things in our lives that are uncertain and out of our control, they are there for a reason. We are going to deal with storms in our lives that will make us fearful, that will make us doubt, that will make us worry. It is in these times though that we must rest in Jesus and recognize He is always with us and praying for us.

There are only two miracles of Jesus chronicled in all four of the gospels, and today's teaching is one of them - the feeding of the 5,000. Pastor Jason describes how Jesus had compassion on a large crowd. While looking for a place to rest and renew with His disciples, after a time of sharing the gospel and performing miracles, He had compassion on a crowd because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus stayed with them, taught them, and used what is essentially a little boy's lunch to provide a sustaining meal for all of the people there. Jesus shows His disciples that when they are weary they need to look to Him, and Him alone, for strength He will provide. Many of us want to see a plan, to see a path and an ability for us to control our situations. Jesus asks us to give up control to Him, for He can accomplish anything through divine possibilities. He can turn even the smallest contributions for the glory of God. Jesus wants us to come to the end of ourselves so that we can find Him, and tell the world about Him.

Redemption Bible Church continues its examination of the Book of Mark Chapter 6 this week, part of an ongoing series entitled "The Crown and the Cross," led by Pastor Jason Mayhall. The Scriptures describe how John the Baptist repeatedly spoke out against King Herod, and Herod was interested in John's message. However Herod was ultimately uncomfortable with the truth, and kept his word to execute John. Pastor Jason explains how John the Baptist is an example of how those who follow God must be prepared to be feared for the sake of the gospel. We must understand that God is uniquely preparing us for these situations, and equipping us for His glory.

Jesus both attracts people to himself through his love but also alienates them by his claims. As followers of Jesus, we are to find the harmony between proclaiming the most exclusive message of salvation, and being the most inclusive messengers of salvation to all.

Pastor Jason Mayhall recounts two healings by Jesus in a series entitled "The Crown and the Cross" at Redemption Bible Church. In Mark 5, Pastor Jason describes how in the midst of urgently traveling to heal Jairus' 12-year old daughter of a fever, a woman reaches out to touch Jesus. She has faith that one touch of His garment will heal her of a 12-year bleeding disorder, but Jesus turns to learn more about her and the chronic condition that had plagued her. He explains that it was not the touch that healed her, but her faith. During this conversation, Jairus' daughter dies, but Jesus tells Jairus to not be concerned but rather have faith that He would do what He said He would do. When they arrived, Jesus speaks gently to the little girl and she is resurrected from the dead, by God's power. We see through this story that God can challenge us to have faith through our worst situations. He always has perfect timing and if something is not happening in the timing we would like, we must have faith that God will help us in the way that is best in the timing - He knows will help us grow in our faith.

Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church in an examination of the Book of Mark this week, continuing a series entitled "The Crown and the Cross." Chapter 5 recounts how Jesus saved a man from demonic possession; a man whose sins had driven him mad. Sin progresses gradually. Where there is a pattern of persistent sin in our lives, it gives the Devil a foothold to influence us further and to commit greater acts of evil. Pastor Jason teaches that we need to fix our eyes on Jesus, releasing our soul from distractions and sin.

Redemption Bible Church is led by Cody Hensley this week as we continue the series, looking at the Book of Mark. In this teaching, Jesus calms a storm that threatened the ship he was on. As we look at our own lives, we are reminded to remain faithful in Him - even when we face uncertainty. God is there for us when we are exhausted and scared. When we are uncertain in life, God is certain. Through numerous examples from his life, Cody shares how God is always there for us, even when we may not see our prayers answered in exactly the way we might have hoped. It is through His love for us that we can go forth and spread His Word to others, and come to know His love in a deeper way.

Pastor Jason Mayhall leads an examination, at Redemption Bible Church, of the Book of Mark. It is very easy to become distracted and deceived by worldly things. We have to ask ourselves, "Do we accept Jesus for who he is, or do we seek only his gifts?" Following Jesus means we have to live to serve others, putting others' needs before our own. It's not easy to serve others to the point when it can become uncomfortable. What type of life are we going to live? What is it that God is asking of us? By accepting Jesus into our lives and serving others we get back an abundant and eternal life. We must see how much greater this is than what we sacrifice in this life, to achieve it.

Redemption Bible Church celebrates Easter led by Pastor Jason Mayhall. Looking at the Book of Mark chapter 3 we see how Jesus is looking to disrupt our lives in a positive way. We see how God can forgive any sin as long as we accept our need for forgiveness. Through the celebration of Easter we also have an opportunity to ask ourselves have we become so busy, so distracted by things in our lives that we are missing what is most important: Jesus' call to love and serve those around us.
