In this episode, Hannah sits down with Athena Newell, a functional nurse practitioner and the visionary behind the new Stat Wellness location in Park Circle, Charleston. Athena shares her unconventional journey—from growing up in a military family to working in emergency and family medicine, and now to creating a care model grounded in personalized, functional wellness.
The conversation covers strength training for women in their 30s and 40s, hormone health, aging, and how to stay active through every season of life. From motherhood to entrepreneurship, Athena reflects on leadership, healthcare, and what it takes to build a healthcare experience that actually serves people.
Athena also opens up about her own non-negotiables when it comes to health, the role of muscle in longevity, and debunks the myth of “bulking up.

From mental health to body image, this conversation explores how yoga can empower us to show up authentically—on and off the mat.
