Aja is joined by Latino Community Fund Georgia's civic participation coordinator, Michelle Zuluaga. Although the two originally scheduled this podcast in February to discuss the 2020 U.S. Census and LCF's work, the scope of everything has vastly changed due to the outbreak and spread of COVID-19 in the U.S. Aja & Michelle still cover the census and LCF's work with Latinx communities in Georgia, but now from the perspective of this unique moment of a global pandemic we are all in.

After seeing Algiers perform the "Last Show on Earth" in Atlanta on March 14, a day in the crux of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., Aja catches up with Frankie & Lee over the phone a couple weeks later after they were all settled into quarantine. The three discuss how the pandemic has affected the band specifically, the music industry as a whole, and where all this might be going.

That show in Atlanta was Algiers' last show in their scheduled tour, which has been postponed. Its live recording is featured in whole on the band's official Bandcamp page and their latest album 'There Is No Year' is available now on vinyl and all streaming services via Matador Records.

Aja is joined by Atlanta-based immigration attorney Jessie Calmes who works primarily with those who have been detained and are awaiting deportation. Jessie lends valuable insight into what it's like behind the scenes and the newsreels when it comes to our immigration communities and detention centers, pre-COVID and during COVID.
