What if working harder is actually keeping you stuck?
For most of my life, I believed that success required hard work, long hours, sacrifice and exhaustion. I carried that belief into entrepreneurship — working 60-hour weeks, doing everything myself and believing that if I just tried harder, eventually I would become wealthy.
But I wasn't getting wealthier. I was just working more.
In this episode, I share the shift that changed my relationship with money, work and success — and eventually helped me go from earning around $25,000 a year while working constantly to building a life where I could work significantly less and make significantly more.
We talk about the beliefs we develop around money, why so many of us associate struggle with deserving success, and how our identity can keep us trapped at the same level even when we're doing everything we're told we're supposed to do.
I also share the Christmas when we had maxed-out credit cards, no savings and four kids to provide for — and the decision I made that became a turning point in how I viewed money, possibility and my own circumstances.
You'll hear about:
• Why working harder doesn't automatically make you wealthier
• The trap of trading time for money
• How childhood experiences shape our beliefs about money and security
• Why we associate exhaustion with success
• The difference between trying and deciding
• How identity influences income and opportunity
• Why your current circumstances don't have to determine what's possible next
• The question that changed the way I make decisions: "What would she do?"
If you've been working harder, doing more and wondering why you still haven't created the income, freedom or life you know you're capable of, this conversation is for you.
Maybe the answer isn't doing more.
Maybe it's becoming someone different.
