It all began in the early months of 2017 when two homeless men, Daniel Aldape and David Dunn, were bludgeoned to death in separate incidents on the streets of downtown Las Vegas. With no witnesses, no weapons left behind, and no surveillance footage to aid in the investigation, Captain Andrew Walsh of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department had to act fast. A seasoned officer with over two decades of experience, Walsh trusted his instincts. He knew these murders were connected and feared they were the work of a serial killer.

Walsh understood that Las Vegas—home to over 40 million visitors annually and with a homeless population of over 7,000—was a city that couldn’t afford to let a killer slip through the cracks. 

This story is about more than just a case—it’s about the victims whose lives were cut short, the struggle for justice, and the unsettling reality of what happens when society’s most vulnerable are targeted.
