She works with local lawmakers to pass chaining bans and improve other standards of care for companion animals, and as a former longtime resident of Spain, she assists with Spanish-language cruelty cases around the world and with mega spay/neuter events in Mexico.

Dr. Ahmad is a practicing heart failure cardiologist who cares for patients across the spectrum of heart failure, including patients with different types of cardiomyopathies, with advanced heart failure, and those who have undergone heart transplantation or mechanical assist device support (LVAD).

He has a particular clinical interest in the diagnosis and management of patients with different types of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, such as cardiac amyloidosis.

Dr. Ahmad’s research interests are in using data science, machine learning, and digital health technologies to improve quality of care for patients with heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. ABOUT - Maurice Kemp

I have a doctorate in Medical Microbiology with specialization in Virology. I have had both a career in academia, industry and government.
My research interests emphasized control of pathogens of both man and animals, including those of shrimp.

Worked on underlying mechanisms by which pathogens cause disease. I also worked and developed pharmaceutics, immuno-modulators as well as chemical agents directed at microbial contamination of our food supply.

I have a very diverse background. Spent many years working in government and academia on projects related to disease control. As a result of a pharmaceutical consulting relationship I left academia. After my transfer to a pharmaceutical company I extended my studies on immunomodulators, wound healing and antivirals.

After leaving the pharmaceutical company I co-founded a company devoted primarily to food and environmental safety. I was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for this company, obtained chemical process and applications patents for the company. Spent considerable time solving problems domestically and internationally China and southeast Asia. Company was eventually sold.

Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel is a senior science advisor on primate experimentation for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

A Fulbright scholar who has studied the human-primate interface in Africa, Asia, and the primate biomedical facilities of the U.S. for nearly 40 years, she has published 95 peer-reviewed articles spanning the fields of primatology, virology, epidemiology, microbiology, and conservation.

Her most recent book, Neglected Diseases in Monkeys From the Monkey-Human Interface to One Health, was published in 2020.

Her work includes addressing the neglect and disease risk posed by the University of Washington’s Washington National Primate Research Center, where she worked before coming to PETA.
