Considered an at-risk youth himself, Greg Long, who now works for WBRC FOX6 News, founded Caring Men & Caring Women, Inc. to give back to his hometown of Bessemer, Alabama. During my interview with Van Sykes of Bob Sykes Bar B Q, Van told me that Greg’s organization is benefiting from this year’s Bob Sykes BBQ & Blues Festival. Being an at-risk youth himself Greg Long founded Caring Men and Caring women to help the youth of his hometown of Bessemer, Alabama. In 1970, Bob Sykes had a stroke and his son, 15-year-old Van Sykes, dropped out of high school. Because of this, Van's mom, Maxine, felt that Van had missed out on his childhood. On August 31st in 1984, 19-year-old Steve Chapman had a motorcycle accident that left him laying in an apple orchard with a broken back and a collapsed lung for 14 hours through the night, surviving a thunderstorm that brought hail and high winds. Amazingly, Steve was found by a friend in his helicopter the next morning

Growing up in Mexico City, Mexico, Ricardo Rincon was interested in riding dirt bikes from an early age. At the age of 14, Ricardo was in an accident that left him paralyzed. Three months after he broke his back, he began participating in adaptive sports, which led him to a scholarship with The University of Arizona and a spot on the handcycling team.
