My guest today on the Goal Getter podcast has quite a background; he has been a sports broadcaster, a news anchor, on Kare11, and now has his own show on WCCO radio called Hey, It’s Cory Hepola.
Cory is originally from a small town in northern Minnesota with a population of 3,500 near the town I grew up in. He went to college at Concordia and earned a degree in mass communications, naturally, you can tell he is great at speaking. At a young age, Cory wrote down he had a goal to work on-air in Minneapolis and he kept note throughout highschool and college.
Over the years Cory has had ups and downs in his career just like many people do but his rejection taught him to keep moving forward and never give up. At one point in his life, he thought he wouldn’t work in the TV industry again after being laid off from his job, but with a little prayer and a lot of ambition, he landed a job on-air as a news anchor at Kare11 in Minneapolis. He met his lifetime goal of being back in his home state doing what he loved.
Just over a year ago, Cory made a switch from prime time TV to radio with WCCO in Minneapolis where they offered him his own show. He said the switch was for a few reasons but mainly to be home with his family and to use his voice as an influencer. He wants to spread the word that there are good people in Minnesota that do good things and he wants to focus on that. Being on the radio will allow him to have a little more dialog with his audience.
After talking to Cory you know he is a hometown guy that wants to help people be a better version of themselves. He is honest, open, and caring which you will learn listening to his show here at WCCO radio. I was honored to interview him and look forward to watching his bright future.
Listen to the full podcast as we talk about goals, rejection, and what everyone needs to understand about themselves in order to live a successful life.
