EPISODE 04 - Formula 1 for Dummies!
Are you one of those who thinks,"Formula 1 is a way too confusing sport for me and I just don't get it". Well here's your 14-minute beginner crash course to get you up to pace with the world Formula 1.
The episode has been split into 2 sections - beginner and advanced, so you can listen to either section (or maybe even both) based on your preference.
Glossary -
1) Pole Position - The first place on the starting grid, as awarded to the driver who recorded the fastest lap time in qualifying
2) Pit Stop - A routine where the car returns to the pit garage, to either get the tyres changed or to perform any immediate car repairs
3) DRS - Also known as Drag Reduction System, this mechanism allows the driver to open the inner flap of the rear wing only in designated areas of the track. This reduces the overall straight line drag, which helps the car go faster and affect an overtake
4) Parc Ferme - A fenced-off area into which cars are driven after qualifying and the race, where no team members are allowed to touch them except under the strict supervision of race stewards
5) Marshal - A circuit official who oversees the safe running of the race
6) "Box this lap" - Return to the pit garage in this lap
