Did She Just Say That?

The Mask Was Getting Heavy

Listen Later

What if the version of yourself you’ve been carrying around isn’t actually you?

In this episode, we’re getting honest about authenticity, image, and the pressure to fit into the boxes other people—or even we ourselves—have created. We unpack why so many of us feel like we have to edit our personalities, tone ourselves down, or become a certain “acceptable” version of ourselves to be loved, respected, or accepted.

We dive into labels, faith culture, and the misconception that following Jesus means becoming less of who you are instead of more. Ashley shares her own struggle with constantly monitoring what she says and presenting different versions of herself depending on who she’s around. Together, we ask the hard questions: What parts of your personality have you hidden? Are you living for authenticity or approval? And who decided you had to choose between being fun and being faithful?

The truth is, the right people don’t run from the real you—they lean in. There’s incredible freedom in taking off the mask and embracing the person God created you to be.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve been performing instead of living, this conversation is for you. Pull up your chair! 🪑

Love,

Ash & Chess 💛💛
