The Master's teaching

This is a summary of everything we have studied so far in Chapter 5 of Matthew and how they are related to Jesus' famous word in Matthew 5:14: "You are the light of the world". In this episode, we discuss why and how the teachings on the mount are connected to this verse.

Do you know who God sees as a son and daughter of His? Many verses lead to this. We know John 1:12 that says those who believe and receive Jesus, and Romans 8:14 that says those who are led by the Spirit. However, many ignore Matthew 5:9, which also gives a vital hint on how to spot a child of God. This episode focuses on this forgotten verse and on why it matters so much! 

Jesus said in Matthew 5v8: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God". Why did he tie your vision of God to the purity of the heart? What does the heart represent? More importantly, what was the true message behind this sentence? Let's talk about it.

Jesus kept on teaching on top of the mountain and said to the thousands of people around him: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." The question is, why does being hungry and thirsty for righteousness matter so much to God that he had to say it? Why is it relevant?

Jesus said that those who are meek inherit the earth, but why is it so? What does it mean to be meek, and why is it important to be seen as the light of the world? This episode focuses on answering these questions.

Jesus said in Matthew 5v4: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." This is a verse that I used to wonder a lot about what Jesus meant. Are we more blessed when we are emotionally in pain? That would contradict many things God said. What did Jesus then mean by this? Let's talk about it.

Jesus started teaching about how to become the light of the world and radiate His glory. The first requirement He gave is to be poor in spirit because only then can one inherit the kingdom of heaven. Let's discuss this. 

Unfortunately, many Christians are now denying this identity of Christ that was so dominant during His time on earth: Him as the Healer. We are seeing more and more Christians sick and begging for healing, believing it is God's will for them, or not believing in healing at all. What do the scriptures say about this?
