Publisher's Summary:
It was cruel. It was unfair. It was harsh.
But it was necessary.
It was the mating system.
With a startling lack of females amongst the werewolf community, two packs have struck up an agreement making women from one pack mate with the men from the other in order to balance the ratio.
Once they have mated, they are to return to their packs and never see each other again.
Alexa was the latest young female to be put through the mating system, and she was paired with the handsome Antony.
They both knew exactly how the system worked but after sharing a beautiful, passion-filled night together, Alexa and Antony were left wondering if they could find a way to beat the system, too.

Good performance but story lost me
What did you like best about The Mating System? What did you like least?
This was a whole new take on a werewolf pack and not in a good way. The werewolves were given a spot in the pack and based on that spot they were only allowed to do certain things. Alphas (male and female) were not allowed to mate, they were to only hunt food and protect the pack. Omegas (we only saw female) were only there to breed to keep the pack going. When the Omegas were to breed they were taken to another pack and forced to mate with an alpha from that pack then brought back the same day to never see the male again.
What could Angela Foxxe have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The story lost me around halfway. It was lacking something from that point but before that I was really into the story.

I received this free audio book from Audiobook Boom in exchange for an unbiased review.
Different Storyline
I was given this book via audiobook boom in exchange for a review. That being said this book chose to make the wolves evil rather than clannish. Two clans make a pact. Their numbers are down so they chose a cruel system of mating with females of the opposite clan. They never see each other and the father is not involved in raising the pups.Although if both numbers are down how would this increase them. A thought for another time. The H/h go against the system because they fall in love. Neither clan likes this and they attempt to kill the lovers and their friends who are helping them. The narrator added nothing to the story. Perhaps a better narrator or at least one familiar with the story would have helped. I like a change of pace from the same old story lie but this one may have been too out there.

Any additional comments?
Interesting shift from the normal take on wolf packs in paranormal stories.
Different kind of wolf pack. Instead of a loving, supportive and family oriented pack these alpha wolves are like prison wardens. These were some nasty wolf's.
Slow moving story, some action and sex.
Alexa dreams of a better way. Finding a way to break free from the harsh life of their wolf packs. She finds help in a fellow pack mate No-amy(?) and her mate Antony from a neighboring wolf pack.
Marie Smith is the narrator for this book. While she does have a pleasant voice the narration is stilted/dry, it just doesn't slow smoothly. It just sounds like she's reading pages. Like she didn't do a read through of the story beforehand to prepare and familiarize herself with the story. She does convey some of the emotions of the characters, but again the delivery is stilted.
