I’m sure all of us have had cancer touch our family or friends. Amy Rosewater from the Casey Cares Foundation in Baltimore reports how a young girl found a positive way to help cancer victims. 

Our Mercy Ships Outpatient Center is a place where patients recover after surgery.

Volunteering with Mercy Ships helps people who cannot help themselves.  And there are some fun perks along the way. 

Many women in Africa suffer from a childbirth injury called obstetric fistula. Often they’re ostracized by their families and communities. 

Amani received a concussion when she accidentally hit her head on the brick wall of her dorm room. It began many neurological problems — memory loss, confusion, slurred speech, exhaustion, and tremors. 

Roger became blind at age 59. His youngest sister became his eyes and took care of him.

The wonderful volunteers onboard our hospital ships donate their time and skills to help people in the poorest countries in Africa. Ash Russell volunteered as a physical therapist.

Sometimes we avoid calling or visiting with people who are grieving because it reminds us of our own losses. Maybe we’re afraid we’ll say the wrong thing.

The work that Mercy Ships does not only affects patients and their families. It can also affect the entire community… as the Mercy Ships Communications Team saw first-hand.
