Marty Burbank has had a successful career and absolutely loves sailing.  So, he and his wife decided to buy their dream boat.

Fifaliana’s bent and twisted legs required her mother to carry her to school each day.  But the bright, bubbly ten-year-old had a joyful spirit ... a special gift.  You see, God gave Fifaliana remarkable artistic talent.  Her love of drawing became a merciful retreat.  She drew and colored while other children played outside during recess.

It’s a good thing to learn to be a mercy-giver when you’re young.  Carter Leibbrandt is a young man with a heart for helping.  He came up with an innovative idea for showing mercy to the people in Haiti.

In over 25 years of service, Becky Bynum has seen many amazing things in Mercy Ships.  Early on, she helped set up a surgical eye clinic on one of our smaller ships. 

The locals say nothing will grow in regions covered by sand in Madagascar.   But Mercy Ships crewmember George Coleman saw a treasure where other people saw trash.

Seven-year-old Judlin has a smile that lights up a room.  As a toddler, he experienced a traumatic brain injury.  That’s a difficult injury to recover from, especially in a developing country like Madagascar with limited access to doctors and hospitals.  Judlin had many physical challenges, including decreased muscle tone in his legs.

Years ago, the Mercy Ship Anastasis was in Guinea, West Africa.  Some crewmembers visited Nongo, a village of handicapped people.  They noticed that many of the villagers had sores on their hands from cuts and scrapes they get from crawling on the rough ground.

Becky Bynum is a long-term crew member with Mercy Ships.  She serves as our Healthcare Services Director and makes sure our hospital ship has the necessary medical supplies.  She describes her volunteer calling to medical missions

Some years ago, Clarke Bynum and Gifford Shaw were headed to Africa on a mission trip.  They missed their connecting flight in England, but managed to get an alternate flight.
