the messy middle: lessons in transition from my back room

Listen Later

Episode 37: This week’s episode is a little different — it’s unfiltered and almost completely unedited. I’m taking you behind the scenes into my back room, a space that’s piled high with stuff and slowly becoming both my biggest project and my biggest teacher this fall. Cleaning out this room has become a literal, physical representation of what I call the “messy middle” — that uncomfortable in-between place where things aren’t yet finished, but they’re shifting. Just like this seasonal transition from summer into fall, the process is messy, imperfect, and sometimes frustrating… but it’s also where the magic of change really happens.

In this episode, I share:

🍂The resistance I felt every time I opened the door to my back room — and how it mirrors the transitions we resist in life

🍂Why clearing out space (physically, emotionally, spiritually) is essential before we can step fully into the next season

🍂How the yoga philosophy teachings of Aparigraha (non-attachment) and Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender) can help us navigate transitions with more trust and less clinging

🍂Reflection + journaling prompts to help you uncover your own “back room” — the areas of your life calling for release or renewal

This is a true behind-the-scenes share of where I’m at right now — messy piles and all. If you’ve ever found yourself in the thick of a transition, wondering if you’ll ever get to the other side, I think you’ll feel right at home in this episode.

And if you’re craving practices to support you through this season of change, don’t miss the Summer Slow Down Workshop Replay — a guided ritual to reflect, release, and find renewal as we shift into autumn. As a thank-you for listening, use code MTM20 for 20% off.
