  • 37 - Top 5: DOWN Songs
NOLA! That's right, we're talking about one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) Supergroups to ever grace Metal...DOWN. Anselmo/Windstein & Strange/Keenan/Bower - Pantera/Crowbar/C.O.C./Eyehategod - what an incredible lineup!
    -
We talk a little bit on Supergroups in general, like what's the difference between a Supergroup, guys from other bands just forming a new band, and side-projects.
    -
Without getting TOO into the individual's main bands (that's for other epsiodes), we talk all the members, DOWN II and the evolution into III, Sabbathlove becoming "getting the DOWN sound down", NOLA Metal Scene documentary on YouTube, playing behind the beat, and more...
    -
Hit us up with some of your favorite DOWN songs, and don't forget to Rate, Review, Like, Subscribe, Follow and Share...we'd really appreciate it. Until next time...

  • 35 - Top 5: Metal Drummers (Classic & Modern Era)
Jason is in Idaho and can't get a proper edit in...so this one is raw af! Join us with every cough and "ummm" as we dive into our favorite Metal Drummers.
So, we qualify it in the episode as nothing considered "Extreme Drumming" (that's another episode). Everything else is fair game (Rock, Metal, Glam, Prog, Thrash, Grunge, NuMetal, and some Metalcore), and we're covering the Classic Era (up to 1991) first, then on to Modern Era (starting at 1992).

  • 34 - COVID Update
We tried our hand at remote recording, but the Technology Gods hated on us this weekend. So even though our regular episode fell through...we decided to hit you up with our first remote recorded episode anyway.
    -
We talk about any changes to our personal life during the "Stay-At-Home" order, what we've been listening to, what we've been watching, the creativity levels of so many people, some new albums and songs, and some other random odds and ends.
    -
Don't worry. We'll be back next week with a list, but until then...eat your veggies and fuck your prayers.

  • 33 - Top 5: Acoustic Songs
We're breaking the law this week with another "Classic" episode! COVID has us learning how to remote record, so we can have some new shit for ya ASAP..but in the meantime, we talk about acoustic songs in Metal.
    -
Are acoustic guitars allowed, or do they have a place in Metal? Should they be relegated to instrumentals and interludes only? Are they too "pussy" or "radio, or do they just add to the dynamics of the band?
    -
Also, we talk about butt breathing, the "Spirit of the List", High O'Clock Noon, the perils of music that keeps you down, and 2 late comers that found their way into the episode.
    -

  • 32 - Top 5: Shadows Fall Songs
We're joined by Alex Ralston again, to talk all things Shadow's Fall. Thrash, Metalcore, Metal...we're taking a deep dive to discuss Metalcore and The New Wave Of American Heavy Metal.
    -
We wanna know...can a band that's been twice nominated for a Grammy be underrated?
Do you remember Fuse/Uranium? Music Choice?
Where did you get your new music back in the day?
    -
We also discuss reverse posers, Hardcore kids vs. Metal kids, Pit City, Riff City, cat puke, guitar amps and tones, and who is the "Big 4" of Metalcore?

  • 31 - Top 5: Opeth Songs
We're heading back to Sweden! Progmasters, Opeth are the topic this week. We're joined by our good friend David Johnson to talk about their unique blend of Prog Rock and Death Metal, their many collaborations with Steven Wilson, and the possible effect it had on their eventual shift away from Death Metal.
Jason wants to know if Opeth is mostly music for music nerds.
DLo wants to know if it's a Prog Rock take on Death Metal or a Death Metal take on Prog Rock.
    -
We also ask what does the term "heavy" even mean, in regards to music and how it applies to a band like Opeth? *spoiler*, that's a super difficult question to answer.
    -
Also in this episode: Pizza The Hut, The Martins, Dr. Dre, a little bit of music theory, the cardboard guitar guy, a chorus of Akerfeldt, Kubrick creepy, are they just a heavy Porcupine Tree?, the hidden track trend and how stupid it was, why Jason hates what he calls "the Seafarer Swing"...and Fat Elvis.

We dive deep on this one and get into DLo & Alex concert stories, Ola Funk, babes first death metal album, our favorite Soilwork album cover, new artwork ideas for A Predator's Portrait, Bjorn "Sultry" Strid, accents, Jason wanting Speed Synthwave, DLo's bleep bloops, "file sharing is illegal but so is cocaine and everyone does that too!", Killswede Engage, Killflames Enraged, Soilryche, shady Taco Bell and The Shit List. -

  • 29 - Top 5: Crowbar Songs
You hear them at the start of every episode...we're joined by Josh Caldwell and Ray Garcia of Godhammered, and we're talking about Crowbar.
One of the heaviest bands to ever exist, Crowbar continues to plod along it's bone crushing course, leaving a wake of solid concrete. Heavy, melodic, crushing, riffs. All of these come to mind the second their name is mentioned.
We discuss the deep-fried bass sound, The Twig & Berry Show, the Dad section of a venue, poor socks from The Calves of Doom, and a bunch of crows sitting around drinking whiskey and beer...maybe playing a little pool, and possibly darts.
Huge shoutout to Brick By Brick in this episode. They're are favorite venue here in San Diego. Also, we're sharing a few small show stories as well. Oh...and Jason throws down one of the absolute worst cover attempts of December's Spawn, you've been warned.
