The Midday Show

FOX Sports Southeast Braves analyst Paul Byrd spoke about the interesting aspects of last night's broadcast, what he misses about fans, the form Mike Soroka is in right now, where the veteran leadership will come from on this roster, the idea of the Braves using an "opener" and who could be the starting pitchers after Soroka, Folty and Fried.

Fox Sports South Atlanta Braves Analyst and former MLB Pitcher Paul Byrd joined Chris Goforth and Randy McMichael to break down Mike Soroka’s performance in Monday’s intra-squad scrimmage.

“He was just really working on his change-up and working on his slider. So when I see that, those are the last things to come. Both pitches looked really good. He says he has never felt better at this stage in his career. His arm probably appreciated getting the extra rest and his going to be a horse coming out of the gate against the Mets and he could have an incredible season,” said Byrd when asked about Soroka’s performance last night.

Georgia Bulldogs beat writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Chip Towers joined Randy McMichael and Chris Goforth to talk about the breaking news that University of Southern California (USC) transfer quarterback J.T. Daniels has been granted eligibility to play in the 2020 college football season for the Bulldogs.

“This is what I like about the quarterback position. You know Kirby (Smart) doesn’t fool around. If there’s not competition there he is going to get it from somewhere. First and foremost Kirby Smart believes in competition within the team at the position and suddenly you got a pretty crowded room there and none of these guys are chump change really,” said Towers when asked about J.T. Daniels being granted eligibility this season.

“Obviously I think Newman (Jamie Newman) is the guy, he was recruited to do that. J.T. Daniels is a wild card. How Kirby pulled that off I don’t know. He is definitely there as an insurance policy and/or to put heat on Jamie Newman,” Towers continued.

Randy and Chris talked about the ongoing talks between the NFL and the NFLPA and what the players actually wa
