The Midday Show

Atlanta United Color Analyst Jason Longshore joined Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael earlier today to talk about the MLS tournament in Orlando next month.

“I think most of the experts have them among the four or five favorites in the event and that is without Josef Martinez. That says a lot about the depth of the squad,” said Longshore when asked about Atlanta United’s chances of winning the tournament.

“For me in the East it’s Atlanta, it’s New York City and maybe Toronto. And out west Sporting Kansas City is my favorite out there along with LAFC and potentially Portland,” Longshore continued.

Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael were joined by the Publisher of UGASports.com, Radi Nabulsi to talk about the way the University of Georgia (UGA) is handling COVID-19 testing for their student-athletes, particularly members of the football team.

“UGA is being very very tight to the vest about how the tests are being done, whose tested positive. I know a lot of schools are announcing it. We reported thirteen days ago that Georgia was not going to announce this. Now they could do it in the next five minutes and make me look like a liar which would be fine, it won’t bug me. But we told people two weeks ago, hey they (UGA) are not going to announce it. They (UGA) have made the decision not to put out their numbers. We were told and I got this from a player that less than seven (players) had tested positive and that was of course two weeks ago. They have tested positive, I can guarantee that. That’s from a kid on the team. There have been some positive tests but UGA doesn’t want to put out the numbers and they darn sure don’t want to put out the names,” replied Nabulsi when asked by McMichael how Georgia is going about COVID-19 testing.

“People say that’s just Kirby (Smart) trying to be Kirby. No that was a UGA decision. They don’t want to put the numbers out there…and I hate it but I can’t say that I blame them,” Nabulsi continued.
