Charlie Braxton a McComb, Mississippi, native and Jackson State University graduate, is a poet, playwright, and music and culture critic. He has written the plays Blues Man and Artist Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and the critically acclaimed collection of poetry Ascension from the Ashes. Braxton’s works have appeared in the African American Review, the Washington Post, The Black Nation, Catalyst, Crossroads, Candle, Drum Voices Review, CutBank, Minnesota Review, San Fernando Poetry Journal, Eyeball, Sepia Poetry Review, and Black Magnolias Literary Journal. How do our children perceive race? What does being white or being black mean to them? During 1940s Psychologist Kenneth B. Clark and his wife Mamie P. Clark conducted a study to identify the psychological effects of segregation of black children. A more recent study was conducted by Dr. Margaret B. Spencer from the University of Chicago for CNN. CNN also completed a segment on this issue to assess how children view race. How do our children feel about race and their own race? Do children have preconceived ideas about race before they are even taught about different racial backgrounds? Do children view light or dark skin tones as good or bad and why? At what age should race and skin color be taught to our children to help them understand people? If not taught about race and skin color, could there be any long term psychological effects? The Feminist Movement...How did it effect our Black women??? Today we will examine briefly the feminist movement, when it started, why it was started, and what effects did it have on black women. Did the feminist movement contribute to the way of thinking our black women have today such as the "Independent Woman"? Did the feminist movement trigger the division of the black man and black woman? How does the endoctrination learned by black women of the feminist movement pass down through generations? Did these teachings improve our black women or hurt them?

Are Black Women the New KKK???? Why do some black women make self hatred comments towards black men? Why do some black women always say "There are no good black men!!???" There are a lot of Delusional People in Relationships!!!! Why do people create situations in relationships when they do not exist, such as when you try to make believe your partner really likes you or trying to force them to like you. Why do some people continue to bother with the person after the person tells you they do not want you? What happens when the attraction reverse the roles? (Ex. The person who was your previous crush did not want you, but now they have a crush on you but you do not want them.) And Why is there always a Hook-Up Person?

This week we will be discussing the recent and past negative imagery of African Americans in the Media and what effects it has on the world view of African Americans as well as African American themselves. Is the media negative projection of the African American image intentional? If so, how can the Black community combat the negative perception of themselves? Should we keep enabling the ignorance in our community that is spawned from this type of imagery? (ex: Stop snitching DVDs, gang DVDs ,rap videos, ten o'clock news, websites with ignorant videos & images) Or do we take what we see too serious?
