What if the symptoms you’ve blamed on menopause aren’t just menopause?
In this episode of The Midlife Realignment, I sit down with fat loss expert, sports nutritionist, and Midlife Conversations host Natalie Jill for an incredibly candid conversation about breast implant illness, breast implant removal, inflammation, toxic load, autoimmune conditions, gut health, oral health, and rebuilding your body in midlife.
Natalie had breast implants for more than three decades and went through five sets of implants, repeated capsular contracture, ruptures, and years of health challenges. When blood sugar dysregulation, inflammation, gut problems, autoimmune issues, and other seemingly unrelated symptoms began piling up, she initially thought perimenopause and menopause might be to blame.
Eventually, a ruptured implant forced her to take another look.
Natalie shares why she finally decided to remove her implants rather than replace them again, what she says changed in her body after explant surgery, and why the experience completely transformed the way she thinks about health.
But this conversation goes far beyond breast implants.
We talk about the concept of “toxic load,” why Natalie believes seemingly unrelated health problems can sometimes be connected, what she learned about her oral microbiome and an old root canal, and why becoming a detective about your own health can be especially important in midlife.
Natalie also opens up about the emotional side of breast implant removal after having implants since age 19, adjusting to her changing body, recovering from an L5-S1 disc replacement, and rebuilding strength in her 50s.
We also discuss:
• Breast implant illness and the symptoms Natalie experienced
• Breast implant rupture and capsular contracture
• Why she initially blamed her symptoms on menopause
• Her experience with blood sugar dysregulation and inflammation
• Breast implant removal and what happened afterward
• Autoimmune conditions, including celiac disease and Hashimoto’s
• Gut health, oral health, mold exposure, and “toxic load”
• Root canals and the oral microbiome
• Her L5-S1 disc replacement
• Why strong glutes and core strength matter as we age
• The functional exercises Natalie believes women should prioritize
• Why feeling better may need to come before pushing harder in the gym
If you’ve ever thought, “Something is wrong with my body, but I can’t figure out what,” this conversation will encourage you to keep asking questions and looking at the bigger picture.
Because sometimes what looks like “just menopause” deserves a closer look.
