Clint (not this one) and Kelly hangout at Hellbent Brewing Company in Lake City, Seattle, and talk a little about vaccines and the upcoming Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast.
Clint and Kelly (not this one) go to Oahu and ride the original Ironman course. It consists of the Waikiki Roughwater Swim, what became the Dick Evans Memorial Ride and the Honolulu Marathon.
Clint (not this one) and Kelly meet up at The Cove in Lynnwood, WA to discuss their experience with the Chuckanut 50k. It was virtual-ish this year and the course was kind of a choose-your-own-adventure. But, we finished and had a good time in the end.
Clint and Kelly (not this one) completed the 4x4x48 challenge and Clint manages to take a break from his post event hibernation to tell the tale with Kelly.
It was a great way to kick off the 2021 race season as well as share the experience with other folks taking part in the challenge.
Consider donating to David Goggin’s charity, a wolf sanctuary in Washington, or Dede Pollard’s cancer fund. If anything, post something meaningful or be the voice of something positive. Even funny memes of cats or something from The Onion works.
Stay hard!
Clint (not this one) and Kelly prep for the 4x4x48 Challenge and Kelly has the preliminary outline for two courses. Check it out!
Clinton Timmerman (not this one) joins Clinton Timmerman (not this one) from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, after skiing in Vail and Telluride, to talk about skiing and what type of endurance sports Clinton Number Two may find of interest. Races like the Grand Traverse would be more of his style, as would the biathlon.
Number Two dreams of skiing Alyeska, Alaska, Jackson Hole and Big Sky. He also wants to figure skate.
We discuss genetic predispositions to cold, the Uberman race and proper training.
Clinton Number Two also talks about the redeeming qualities of New Jersey and his favorite James Bond movie.
Clint and Kelly (not this one) want to create races—for you! Please send us your feedback. We have ideas for a 200 miler (The Candyman), the ultimate Ironman distance (The Tippleman), a swim-run (The Richman) and a 100 mile relay (The Bernieman).
Our trip to Kona has been postponed and now we are thinking of doing both the original and current Ironman World Championship courses in April. We have six weeks to train, so why not?!
Kelly mentions the frugal perks of Guam. Alice likes Shiba Inus and wolves.
Dave Chappelle’s cousin, Joel David Chappell, joins us to talk about his diet and weightlifting routine, which does not involve illegal drugs or starvation, but simply comes down to eating better food and not exceeding a set number of calories per day.
Joel recommends I Heart Macros, Jim Stoppani and The Muscle PhD as resources for diet and workout tips. He also likes horses.
Clint and Kelly (not this one) impart their wisdom from Josh’s Taps and Caps in Snohomish…until the batteries run out at minute five. They relocated to finish up at Crucible Brewing in Everett, Washington. Both were fun places and it’s great that restaurants and food establishments were able to stay open during the second shutdown, albeit outside and in a tent. But, that’s what spot heaters and jackets are for.
We discuss having to get comfortable with body functions during endurance events, the importance of physician visits and discovering something called “sports anemia”. We also discuss Covid vaccinations as a way to ensure races happen again (consider getting vaccinated when you’re eligible!). Kelly preps me for a Kona adventure. I also think this would be a dream ride.
Clint and Kelly (not this one) talk about Ironman Cozumel and its many subtleties and not so subtle aspects, such as major headwind.
They talk about hyponatremia and wonder if iguanas can really regrow their tales.
They also bid 2020 adieu and hope 2021 is not the disaster this past year has been.
