THE MIKE GORMLEY SHOW, Featuring Jake Gold. Jake Gold has managed Canadian artists The Tragically Hip, The Watchmen, The Cliks, and Sass Jordan.

Jake Gold is one of Canada’s most successful artist managers, and for its 6-season run, a judge on the national television hit Canadian Idol. In 1981, Gold started his artist management company, The Management Trust, through which he is best known for establishing and transforming The Tragically Hip into a national icon.

In 2020, Gold reunited with The Tragically Hip to direct its legacy in Canadian music history. He also handles the career of acclaimed pop rock band The Pursuit of Happiness and currently oversees a roster of quickly rising talent with co-manager Ryan Hefford. The Management Trust oversees music producers Moe Berg, Laurence Currie, and Russell Broom.

The annual Canadian Music Industry Awards have recognized Gold as Manager of the Year in 1991, 1993, and 1994.

In 2009, Gold was elected to the CIMA (CIRPA) board, where he served as Vice‐Chairman. Jake is also a former board member for the MMF (Music Managers Forum) and is the 2013 MMF Honour Roll Award recipient for his lifetime work in Artist Management. In 2024, Gold was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and has overseen multiple Juno award-winning acts.

Mike and Jake are old friends. They reconnect and catch up on shared stories of the music business as can only be told by those who lived them.

Iain Matthews is a musician and singer-songwriter. He was an original member of the British folk rock band Fairport Convention from 1967 to 1969 before leaving to form his band, Matthews Southern Comfort, which had a UK number one in 1970 with their cover of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock". In 1979, his recording of Terence Boylan's "Shake It" reached No. 13 on the US charts. Iain Matthews has been featured on over 100 albums in a career spanning over fifty years.

Steve is guitarist/producer/singer for The Immediate Family (with Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel, Waddy Wachtel & Leland Sklar) and Our House – the Music of CSNY and has worked with David Crosby, John Oates, Robben Ford, Jennifer Warnes & more.

Steve Postell has performed with many artists, including Shawn Colvin, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Joe Walsh, John Fogerty, Alan Parsons, and Maroon 5. Steve was in rehearsal to go on tour with David Crosby before David’s unexpected passing and will cherish the time spent putting the show together.

Steve’s latest, “Walking Through These Blues,” is on Quarto Valley Records, and Iain Matthews’s latest, “How Much Is Enough,” is on Sunset Boulevard Records.

Beginning with her stint as the lead singer and songwriter for the innovative and iconic trio Animal Logic (with Police drummer Stewart Copeland and legendary jazz bassist Stanley Clarke), through her decades of success since, Deborah Holland has been remarkably prolific with her musical output.

Currently the editorial director at the relaunched CREEM for the past three years and co-author of the recently released "MC5: A Oral Biography of Rock’s Most Revolutionary Band," she is the only journalist to have ever performed in full makeup with Kiss. Aaron Zigman is a classically trained composer, producer, arranger, songwriter, and musician who has scored music for films including The Notebook, The Six Triple Eight, The Company Men, Bridge to Terabithia, John Q., The Proposal, Flicka, For Colored Girls, Flash of Genius, Sex & the City, Alpha Dog, and Escape from Planet Earth.

Aaron Zigman has accrued numerous honors, including the 2005 Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song, two International Film Music Critics Award nominations, and twelve BMI Film & TV Awards.

A top prize-winner at the 2021 American Prize in Orchestral Composition, his Tango Manos concerto was a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Aaron Zigman's concert output encompasses operatic, orchestral, chamber, and vocal music.

Émigré (2023), his oratorio for soloists, choir, and orchestra, receives its European premiere from Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in the fall of 2024. This follows the work’s world and U.S. premieres last season from the co-commissioning Shanghai Philharmonic and New York Philharmonic, respectively, with a Chinese and American cast led by conductor Long Yu in a semi-staged production by Mary Birnbaum. Set to a libretto by Mark Campbell, with additional lyrics by Brock Walsh, the 90-minute work tells the story of Jewish refugees who fled to Shanghai to escape the Holocaust. A recording of its Shanghai world premiere was released this past June by Deutsche Grammophon, drawing a five-star review from BBC Music magazine, and a film of the U.S. premiere comes to PBS TV’s “Great Performances” series in fall 2024.

In 1979, two school kids all hopped up on punk rock, started their own group in their hometown of Hawthorne, Los Angeles (birthplace of the Beach Boys), and soon found themselves opening shows for notorious scene pioneers Black Flag. Jeff McDonald was 15, and his brother Steven was only 11. But that didn’t stop their group from becoming one of the most remarkable, enduring, and unique outfits punk-rock ever belched up.

2024, then, marks Redd Kross’s 45th birthday – an important anniversary for any group whose heart pulses at 45RPM – and the brothers are celebrating the event with a veritable multimedia extravaganza.

There’s a memoir, Now You’re One Of Us, due in November, with author Dan Epstein telling the group’s story in the McDonald’s unmistakable (and occasionally contrary) voices. A brilliant rockumentary, Born Innocent, directed by Andrew Reich, will premiere later in the year.

Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story, the Sound Unseen Jury Award recipient for Best Documentary, directed by Emmy Award-winner Andrew Reich, opened theatrically in Los Angeles last month to sellout crowds and rave reviews. The film follows core Redd Kross members Jeff and Steven McDonald and their tumultuous relationship as brothers. Including interviews with artists as diverse as the Go-Go’s, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, Black Flag, and The Linda Lindas, Born Innocent is being screened theatrically across North America in January and February.

In 1979, two school kids all hopped up on punk rock, started their own group in their hometown of Hawthorne, Los Angeles (birthplace of the Beach Boys), and soon found themselves opening shows for notorious scene pioneers Black Flag.
