This week, we deep dive into the films of five of some of the most influential film directors of the past few decades and what makes their movies look and feel distinctive from one another.

Our choices for the directors we discuss in the episode are both well known and foundational to the film industry with our picks such as Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan, and are growing names within the evolving industry such as Robert Eggers. There of course many exceptional current and past directors. We decided to pick five directors with styles that have stark contrasts to one another to analyze what it is that gives them each their specific feeling.

Following the release of the first official teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, we take a stroll down memory lane of some of the greatest comic book movie trailers of all time including entries from both Marvel and DC.

We start by doing some analysis of the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, sharing our thoughts on the elements of misdirection and first images of the man himself, Robert Downey Junior as Doctor Doom, returning to the MCU. We then explain the elements of the great comic book movie trailers of our time such as the first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, or Matt Reeves’ 2022, The Batman film.

But this time, we're putting the shoe on the other foot and giving ourselves an opportunity to bash on some of those movies, TV shows, and overall franchises we feel are hyped up too much either by the general public or by their own respective fanbases.

Ever since the Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars movies, the franchise as a whole has divided its fanbase further and further with the release of every new project. Returning to the big screen with the recent release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, the franchise and its future may be in the most contentious and stalemated position to date and seems to keep repeating the same issues it has faced for the better part of the past decade...

This week, we discuss what we feel Star Wars as a whole is missing and the prevailing issues that continue to arise with each project. We discuss how the best projects are few and far between and how our faith in the franchise in general has faltered even more following The Mandalorian and Grogu.

We also touch on upcoming projects such as Star Wars: Starfighter, and other recent projects like Maul: Shadow Lord.
