the Millennial Throwback Machine

Hey Guys! So I am BACK with another free episode for my podcast! And WOW do I have some GREAT news for you.

My album is done and THEE VERY first single for my album comes out on November 6th!!!!

YEESSS!!! And that single is the finished version of a track that was left unfinished and unreleased by a REALLY big band from back in the 60’s!

The track is VERY much a stylistic change for myself but a VERY much welcome one for myself I might add

The song is called “Long Way To Go” and BOY is it a doozy!

I cannot WAIT to share that one with you guys. It’s coming out on the 60th anniversary on when the song would’ve peaked on the charts had it been finished and released back in the 60’s.

So I’m VERY excited to release that one.

Until then, here’s the link to this month’s song so you can listen to it (the song that I discussed this month):

I recently noticed that I DO NOT have a good rating for my podcast on Spotify and i REALLY want to change that, but the only way that I can change it is if I hear from you guys and you guys let me know some constructive feedback on my podcast in terms of how I can make it better! So PLEASE do reach out to me with that so I can try to make my podcast better. I would ABSOLUTELY appreciate that for sure.

But anyways guys, next year I’’m gonna experience a PRETTY major life change. So i’m trying to brace myself for that. But for right now, things are good. And I’m excited to FINALLY be releasing the first single off of this album. So that should be good.

I’ll be back with another free episode of this podcast next month and this month, I released an interview episode with Little Anthony for the premium version of my podcast and next month, I got an interview coming out with Gary Lewis of Gary Lewis & The Playboys. And btw guys, you can listen to the private premium version of my podcast on Spotify AND Apple Podcasts. And you also get two months free once you sign up for it and then after 2 months, it’s $4.99 a month after two months.

So yeah guys. Hopefully you’ll sign up for that soon. I hope you are all doing well so until next month, PLEASE, Keep Things Groovy!

Hey guys! So I’m BACK with another episode for the free version of my podcast and I’m SO FREAKING EXCITED because I am ALMOST done with recording my album as well. I’m just waiting on the sax parts and for the female background vocals to be recorded for one more song off the album and then THATS A WRAP in terms of recording this album!!

Then it just needs to get mixed and mastered and THATS IT!!! So it’s LITERALLY taking me a whole year to record this album and I’m SO FREAKING EXCITED to get it all done here

And I also have some AMAZING guest episodes lined up for the premium version of my podcast. INCLUDING an interview with Little Anthony next month AND Gary Lewis next month. AND I’m also recording new interview episodes all of the time. This week, I’m recording a new interview with the one and only Mike Stoller who co wrote “Stand By Me” this week as well!

So overall, lots of VERY exciting things going on with my music and my podcast lately, but in the meantime, I hope you guys enjoy my free episode for this month where I broke down a VERY cool instrumental song that blends two VERY niche but cool genres of music, known as Folk and Dixieland Band Jazz

Here’s the link to that song just in case you want to check that out:

Also, I’m still in the middle of sorting out whether or not to use a different print on demand company for my merch as well. I’ll keep you guys posted what I decide for that as well. I think I may stick with the ones that I have because this one girl who recently bought one of my merch items. The Logo has held up quite well. And with the other merch maker, it looks like they have different types of shirts that you can buy that have MUCH better quality in terms of the logo lasting for A LOT longer than others. So I’m not entirely sure what I’m gonna do about that next but we’ll see what I can come up with for the final decision on that.

You can also follow me and reach out to me on Instagram and Tik Tok @iheartoldies. I will be back with more album updates next month and another song to cover for the free version of this podcast. But until then, PLEASE, Keep Things Groovy!

hey Guys! So here's something that you may not be expecting from me. another free episode this month! So Yes, the free episode I released this month is actually a re release of an older episode from 2021. so I wanted to do one more free episode this month so I can give you guys more updates about my album as well.

I'm definitely getting closer and closer to finishing up recording my record, but GOD DAMNIT is it taking a LONG ASS time to finish it. Longer than I initially wanted it to get done. but honestly guys, the support system that I had it terms of finishing my last record isn't really there with this one. my graphic designer/album artwork designer who I worked with on my last project is unavailable to do this one, and my ex vocal coach who I was working wasn't really around for this project, and she was a MASSIVE help with finishing the last project in terms of finding musicians to play on the last project that I did with them. but she wasn't really around to step in and help out with this one, as it was mostly her husband who was in charge of recording this project and I'm the one really spear heading it without any outside help really aside from having to fend for myself with my own resources in terms of the musicians playing on this project.

so that's primarily why it's taking so long for me to finish this project. had they stepped in and brought musicians in to play on these songs, then this project woul've been finished quite a while ago in terms of the recording of it.

but anyways, I decided to do quite the provocative song this week for my podcast that's different from most other songs that I've done for my podcast.

it's a 60's song but it's rather dirty and adult oriented compared to the other songs that I've talked about on my podcast.

here's the link to the song right here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9PjUscNOJM&list=RDS9PjUscNOJM&start_radio=1

please do follow me & reach out to me on Instagram & Tik Tok right here:

also PLEASE subscribe to the premium version of my podcast so you can hear all of these GREAT interview episodes with these REALLY cool 60's music legends on my podcast, and you can be like my friends who couldn't shut up about my podcast who went to my last show! you can do that by clicking the link right here:

https://themillennialthrowbackmachine.supercast.com/

PLEASE do stream my last EP as well. I'm SUPER proud of these songs and even though I cannot WAIT to finish up recording my third album, I absolutely LOVE these songs as well and I REALLY want you guys to hear them if you haven't already heard them as well:

https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/samlwilliams/an-old-soul-with-new--remiagined-things

also do check out the Spotify and Youtube playlists for this podcast, just so that way you can keep track of all of the songs that I've talked about on my podcast just in case you've been loosing track. here's the link to that right here:

if your a Millennial/Gen Z and you think that this song is cool and you've never heard it before and you got turned on by it from me, then ABSOLUTELY email me at [email protected]. you can also follow me & reach out to me on Instagram & Tik Tok @iheartoldies. hope you guys enjoyed two free episodes this month instead of one. I'll be back with just one episode this month, but I also hope that you enjoyed the special re release of the Steve Boone interview episode as well to this free feed. I'll be back with more updates about my album next month, so until then, PLEASE, keep things groovy!

hey guys! So as promised, I'm giving you guys a special re-airing of an interview episode I originally released for FREE 5 years ago. YES! this episode was up for QUITE sometime but It was unfortunately taken down because of a song clip that was used in the beginning of the interview. but now I'm re-uploading it without the song clip.

and let me tell you guys. this band was absolutely INCREDIBLE! they were SO talented, and it was an absolute HONOR to interview one of the original members of this group on my podcast.

If your'e new to listening to this show. I normally don't release interview episodes for free but this interview I originally released for the free version of my podcast prior to launching the premium version of my podcast.

but it was taken down because of a song clip so I'm re uploading it without the song clip.

anyways, I TRULY believe that their music has held up over the years. Millennial Acoustic Singer Songwriters can EASILY sink their teeth into their stuff. and they had a REALLY good blend of Folk, Country, and Pop/Rock & Roll sensibilities.

these guys ALSO mixed in Jug Band Blues into their stuff as well.

here are the songs we discussed in this interview:

If your a Millennial/ Gen Z and you absolutely LOVED this interview and you got turned on to the Lovin Spoonful's music from me, then PLEASE email me at [email protected].

I wish I could give you more album updates guys with me for this particular episode but I"m running out of character space, so what I'll do is that I'll record a solo episode and release it this month and give you guys some more album updates then. but I hope you guys enjoyed this interview episode.

this episode surely is a throwback episode because I'm not 25 anymore (I'm 30 now) but I know that some other earlier podcast episodes were also taken down, but if you want those to be re-uploaded, please let me know. even though it'll definitely be tough to re-upload those. I'll talk to you guys again one more time this month.

Hey guys! so it's at the end of the month now, which means I"m gonna release another free episode for my podcast. and actually, next month I"m doing something pretty special. One of the interviews that I released for the free version of my podcast was unfortunately taken down because of a song clip that I used in the interview, and I didn't get back to my distributor in time to let them know that the song clip was used in context of fair use of my interview that I released. so it was unfortunately taken down. so next month, I'm gonna re release the interview and it's with an original member of the Lovin Spoonful! that was originally released in February of 2021. the playlists for my podcast won't be updated next month as this was a previously released episode for my podcast.

it will not have the song clip in the interview (unlike the original interview) but it will be the original interview as it was when I recorded it with Steve Boone (the original member of the Lovin Spoonful who I interviewed for my podcast). but anyways, this month, I'm diving into a song in a very specific style from the 60's known as Swamp Pop

I dive into exactly what genre is in this episode. here's the song I discuss this month right here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5L5i7ARdAY&list=RDD5L5i7ARdAY&start_radio=1

do also follow me & reach out to me on Instagram & Tik Tok right here:

https://www.instagram.com/iheartoldies

also PLEASE do subscribe to the premium verison of my podcast! next month I will be re releasing a special interview that I originally released for the free version of my podcast so that way, you guys can get a taste of what you would get for the free version of my podcast. if you want more of those interviews with these REALLY cool 60's music legends, PLEASE click this link right here:

https://themillennialthrowbackmachine.supercast.com/

also PLEASE do listen to the Spotify and Youtube playlists for this podcast. so that way you guys can hear the songs that I have talked about on my podcast. you can do that by clicking the link right here:

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/21f3uBS6kU4hUF6QAC5JMj?si=452caeb240974f61

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS1sYR7xky8&list=PL66sgq_GAmRcXy8yKZJfVmAD14HUYj7Nf

also here's another thing guys. I know that I have been plugging the podcast merch stores for a while, but at this moment, I'm looking for new Print On Demand stores for my merch items. mainly because I"m pretty disappointed with the quality of fabric with the T shirts I've gotten from my merch stores from both makers of my Sam L. Williams Merch and my podcast Merch. I got two shirts from both stores as Christmas Gifts and by March, both shirts were pretty worn out and the logos were very much faded. so I am going to make some moves to another Print On Demand companies with MUCH better quality of products/Fabrics.

So I'm gonna hold off on plugging my merch for now, but PLEASE do listen to my last EP so you can brace yourself for my next album that I"m SO excited to finish:

https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/samlwilliams/an-old-soul-with-new--remiagined-things

if you guys enjoyed this interview and you fell in love with this song through me, or maybe you weren't crazy about it and your a Millennial/Gen Z, PLEASE email me at [email protected]. you can also follow me & reach out to me on Instagram & Tik Tok @iheartoldies. hope you guys are doing great. I will give you updates about my album in July. but maybe I'll do a solo episode in June as well. we'll see. if it'll help increate listenership for my podcast that'll be good. anyways, I'll talk to you guys next month. Until then, PLEASE, Keep Things Groovy!.

so yeah guys, between finishing up my album and getting on some GREAT 60's music people on my show (including Billy Vera, who was a part of the first interracial male/female duet back in the 60's), lately, things have been great. I'll keep you guys posted on my album progress as it is progress, I also haven't had any album artwork done for this project yet as well so I'm still working on that actually. but I am getting the songs off this album done little by little bit and MAN do these masters sound GREAT! so that's exciting. AND I just got a super cool collection of 45's FOR FREE!!! Hey Guys! I'm back with another free episode for this podcast! sorry, once again it took me quite a while to get another episode out to you guys. Honestly February was a pretty eventful month. lots happened and most of what happened took my time and energy away from doing this free version of my podcast. everything from going to a music networking event, getting sick, then getting better after getting sick and trying to finish this record right now. but I'm back, and I will be back again next month with another free episode.

Anyways, I decided to do something special for Black History Month by talking about a great Pop record from the 60's done by a pretty underrated black pop singer during that time. this is an absolutely GREAT song and I hope that you guys enjoy my take on it.

here's the link to this week's song just in case you want to check it out:

I try to get in at least one free episode a month. I'll be back in touch with you guys next month, so until then, PLEASE, Keep Things Groovy!.

hey guys! so I think probably by now you should expect a new episode for the free version of my podcast towards the end of each month. it's still very difficult for me to do more than one free episode per month now. and the issue certainly has nothing to do with time.

I definitely have the time and the availability to do more than one free episode per month, it's just that my head has been in other places lately like trying to finish my album and going to concerts and having an active social life and actively securing and finding new guests for the premium version of my podcast and getting friends to resubscribe to that as well as getting friends of mine as new subscribers as well.

and sometimes, I just don't know what song to talk about next, because at this point, I"m trying to keep the free version of my podcast and the premium subscription version of my podcast separate in terms of the kind of songs by specific artists and bands I talk about. I take into consideration things such as is the song that I'm doing for the free version of my show something covered by or related to one of my guests in the premium subscription version of my show. is there no one alive currently who I could interview who worked on the song that would make it a good song for me to cover on the free version of my show.

so I think about all of those things honestly, so that's why I often can only do one free episode a month now.

but anyways, this weeks's song I"m not necessarily in love with, but I definitely think that it's cool and it's definitely an interesting song.
