Session 7: Channeling Your Drive w/ Professor Mike McPherson, affectionately known as "Coach Mike," concludes his 35-year teaching career at Cerritos College this Fall 2018. A former Falcon himself, McPherson has been a mentor and father figure to countless students over the past 30 years, impacting the Cerritos College community profoundly.

McPherson's journey began with service in the U.S. Navy in the late seventies, contributing to America's freedom. A Cerritos College alumnus, he graduated in 1982, met his wife, and built lifelong friendships.

He continued his education at California State University, Northridge, where he knew Paula Abdul. McPherson was the first in his family to earn a college degree. Returning to Cerritos College, McPherson served as an instructor in the health science department and as a football coach, later becoming an administrator. He coached the football team for 15 years, leading them to victories, Super Bowl games, and helping student-athletes transfer to four-year universities. 

His teaching philosophy was to help students discover their strengths, weaknesses, and passions, aiming to make a difference in their lives.

Session 6: w/Coach Callahan, a retired 50-year veteran of football, has coached at the high school, community college, and four-year college levels, primarily on the defensive side. He has coached every defensive position and served as Defensive Coordinator for the last 30 years. 

His notable positions include Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator at Mater Dei High School, Cerritos College, Fresno State University, and the Kansas Community College Jayhawk Conference.Throughout his career, Coach Callahan has mastered virtually every offensive and defensive scheme.

He has spoken at clinics nationwide, including the AFCA National Convention, and published several articles. He has a vast library of videos, playbooks, and installations and maintains extensive professional relationships.

Session 5: Knowing What it Takes w/ Coach Talance Sawyer

Coach Sawyer, a former NFL defensive end and UNLV Hall of Famer, was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 1999. At UNLV, he logged 221 tackles and 15.5 sacks. In the NFL, he recorded 94 tackles and 11 sacks over four seasons.

Recently inducted into the UNLV Hall of Fame, Sawyer now mentors and coaches young men, guiding them to their full potential.
