The Minor Prophets are so called, not because of their content being less important, but simply compared to other prophetic books (like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel), they are much shorter in their length.  Amos was one of the earliest writing prophets, prophesying in Israel around the middle of the 8th century B.C.  His message was one concerned with social justice and the complacency of the wealthy.  In Amos 7, he deals with three visions, and an Israelite official who doesn’t want to hear his words.
