I told you two weeks ago the NBA gambling scandal was just the tip of the iceberg. Now it’s happened again — Major League Baseball. Four of the five New York crime families involved, Cleveland Guardians pitcher Emmanuel Clase indicted for rigging prop bets with his pitches. I’ve been warning the leagues about this for 30 years. When they recruited me to speak to athletes, I told them: the more access you give players to gambling, the more problems you’ll have. Now the leagues are partnering with gambling sites, making millions off the players’ backs while telling those same players they can’t bet. The players are resentful. I know this for a fact — I’ve had contact with people in the sport. Here’s what nobody’s telling you: this is widespread, it’s easy, and it’s going to continue. You can bet on anything now — every pitch, every play. Clase did this for two years before getting caught. How much money was made? And why isn’t “Bettor One” being named? Could be an informant, maybe even undercover FBI. The crime rate rises in every city that legalizes gambling. I’ve seen more lives destroyed by gambling than drugs or alcohol.
