"Analyze what you are doing. What everybody else is doing out there is wrong, because that would put you average, and to me, averages unacceptable." -Joel Gandar
Joel Gandara is the CEO and founder of Morro Capital, a privately-owned e-commerce apparel company with a portfolio of over 20 brands. But prior to his success, Joel had an extraordinary story to tell. Onboard a small boat, Joel and his family left their homeland and immigrated to the US. As passionate as ever, Joel started his entrepreneurial journey as a young kid selling trading cards, and whatever he sees is a good product. At 16, he was already paying for himself, at 22 he already bought a house, and at 30, Joel was already earning millions in net worth, enjoying his "early retirement", focusing on his family, and doing the things he loves.
How was Joel able to have such great achievements in a short period of time? Before you say "Impossible!", hear out what Joel had to go through to live the life he now has. In this episode, Ted and Joel discuss why having a clarity of desire is necessary for achieving your goals, how to keep burnout at bay and stay focused and motivated, what to do when you feel you can't go on anymore, how to take ownership of yourself and your time, and how to keep the excitement going once you've achieved your goals.
The hardest worker is not always the most successful- the wise one is. As Ted says, "You have a choice to chase the life that you say you want or continue to live the life that you currently have." You will have pain along your journey, that's a given. But you have to choose which pain to take- the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
