Nimble is the newest brainchild of CRM pioneer and relationship management entrepreneur, Jon Ferrara. You may know Jon from Goldmine, his previous CRM company that was one of the first truly workable CRM solutions for sales professionals. Now he’s created Nimble, a CRM for the social selling era. Nimble manages relationships by automatically filtering all the ways a salesperson and his/her clients interact, into one simple screen, making it simple and easy to communicate, know who to reach out to, and see more about the people on the other end of the interaction. In this conversation, I’m thrilled to be speaking to Jon about Nimble. But we also get into the changes that have happened in the sales world, what social means for selling in 2017, and Jon was kind enough to give his advice to those brand new to the sales world.

Why the customer will tell you everything you need to know to be successful.
One of the things I asked Jon Ferrara on this episode of #SellingWithSocial was what he would say to his younger self about the life of a sales professional if he could take a time machine ride into the past? One of his pieces of advice to the younger Jon that stood out to me, which is a tried and true principle of selling, is that the customer will tell you everything you need to know to be successful. It's true. As sales professionals, it's our job to ask the right questions so the customer is able to clearly share their needs. And when we really know what the prospect needs and can show them how our solution meets that need, the sale is already done. You want to become a trusted advisor to your customers and their influencers.
The social world is one that enables anyone to connect with anyone. Really, it’s true if you know how to do it and are persistent. In that kind of world, we sales pros have opportunities like never before. Jon Ferrara told me that one of the ways we should be using social in our sales efforts is not only to build relationships that make us trusted advisors of our clients or customers, but also to become that kind of trusted person in the lives of our customer’s influencers. With a tool like Nimble, we get to observe the social circles of our prospects and discover who the people are who they interact with. That gives us an opportunity to make a relational connection that can lead to further success. Every salesperson expects the company they work for to invest in them to some degree. If nothing else, company orientation and training is a starting point.
