In episode 4 I speak to LA based Comedy rebel Charlotte Fox who trained at prestigious mime and clown school in Paris. With her surreal, sassy and foxy antics, she has performed in various venues across the UK, Europe and now Los Angeles.

From sell out shows at Brighton fringe, The Bosco Spiegaltent and 5* Solo Shows at Underbelly Edinburgh Fringe and collaborated with BBC Radio 4 on award winning show The Skewer.

She was seen on BBC prime time TV, Jimmy Carr “Amazing performance!”

She has hosted The Atrium Stage @ Wilderness festival last summer.

She’s been described as: “Mighty Booshy” “Ludicrous, Surreal and Raw” “Volcanic streams of consciousness in high adrenaline comedy” …

In episode 3 I talk to Rebecca Welch - a genuine trailblazer in her field. Totally committed to what she is doing, inspiring the next generation of referees as well as greater inclusion in football as a whole. 

Rebecca Welch became a football referee in 2010 but continued to work in her NHS post until 2019, before turning her attention to officiating on a full-time basis. 

A true trailblazer, In 2021 she became the first woman to be appointed to referee an EFL match and followed that by becoming the first woman to referee a Premier League match in 2023. 

During her career, Rebecca has also officiated games in the Women’s Super League and was referee at the 2017 and 2020 Women’s FA Cup Finals. In December 2020 she was added to UEFA’s elite women’s list, going on to referee at international level, including the Women’s World Cup in 2023.

In episode 2 I meet a seriously impressive young women and the personification of commitment - Adri Brownlee - mountaineer and adventure athlete. 

Adri has summited 13 of the 14 x 8000m peaks and has achieved 2 x Guinness World Records including being the youngest woman ever to summit K2. 

Alongside climbing these epic peaks, she has also started her own Trekking and Expedition company – AGA Adventures – alongside her legendary climbing partner Gelje Sherpa.

In 2024 she hopes to complete her 14 Peaks Project and become the youngest woman ever to climb the world’s 14 x 8000m peaks and the first British woman ever to do so.

This was a highly enjoyable conversation that tracks Adri's love for the mountains back to the tender age of 8 when she pictured herself climbing Everest. The next year she became the youngest person in the UK to complete the Three Peaks Challenge aged just 9 - and where she learned she had the mountaineers mindset. 

We talk about the determination required to thrive in The Death Zone (the place above 8000 metres where human literally begin to die) and also the challenges of chasing records. Adri talks vividly about what the mountains mean to her and how she is connected to them and can hear their call.

A truly impressive woman totally committed to her passion and providing inspiration to everyone she meets.

In episode 1 I speak to writer Ben Duwell, the author of Pine Tree Island, a historical novel about the early settlers of Ibiza.

We talk about Ben's writing process, how he get past the 'tyranny of the blank sheet of paper' and gets his words down. How he manage to balance ego and humility in the creative process and choses not to hold on too tightly to a specific outcome for his work.

We also talk about his brilliant TEDxDaltVila talk and how he committed to that project and managed to remember his words!

Ben also share many fabulous anecdotes about Ibiza past and present. We also recorded this overlooking the bay at Sa Caleta so you can almost hear the sunshine and feel the water. 

Ben lives with his family in the hills above San Juan, and from time to time comes out to do bits of theatre too!

Token Man Consulting was born from Token Man, an initiative he co-founded nearly a decade ago to engage men with the gender equity discussion andis also co-founder of Masculinity in the Workplace, one of the few I&D events that has majority male attendance.

Bodhi Aldridge is a Guide, Teacher, Facilitator and Best-selling Author. This week on The Mojo Podcast we land on a subject which is likely to effect us all at some point, to some degree. We’re talking about stress and specifically the stress that can come from working your way to the top of your game or profession and then the ongoing battle to stay there.

Our conversation centres around my old industry - advertising and media. A dynamic, fast paced & intense business which I found mostly fun & enjoyable but looking back I know I was in a stressed state for more time than is probably healthy.

You may have seen the brilliant dramatisation of 1960s era advertising set in New York with Don Draper as the charismatic chauvinistic brilliant and flawed lead character - well today we dip into the other reason Mad Men maybe gets its title.

I’m joined by Peter Magnani - Peter was my very first boss in advertising - and I have to say with all honesty - he helped guide me and mentor me for those key early years of anyones career. We then worked in different and competitive agencies - always in touch but not close enough for me to know what he was experiencing

Very candidly Peter shares his mojo story - of great success and peak moments, and of the grind and sacrifice which characterise many careers. You’ll hear that when he should have been celebrating his greatest business triumph he was actually in the midst of a profound stress-induced episode.

Peter decided to make a profound change his life and founded Beam in 2019, developed on the twin foundational pillars of “open data for good” and ‘helping people to help themselves” by empowering them to better manage everyday micro-stressors and prevent them building up into anxiety or depression.

Prior to launching Beam, Peter worked in the advertising and media industry at Interpublic and Omnicom across brands such as Apple, Google, and Vodafone. As with many others around the world he has in the past struggled with stress and three years ago decided to apply his knowledge of behavioural analytics, insight, and technology to developing a data-led, self-management tool that was accessible and affordable for individuals and businesses

My guest this week is Danny Saggers. An ibiza resident who has been living on and off the island for the last 16 years. Danny has travelled & lived all over the world choosing to make Ibiza his home base. After a massive spiritual awakening with plant medicine almost a decade ago, Danny’s life took a 180 degree turn which put him onto a path focused on healing self and then helping others to do the same, whilst guiding them to find higher purpose in their lives.

This week - after a short hiatus (moving house) - The Mojo Podcast is back with a wonderful guest and a fundamental subject area: Breathing & Breathwork.

Ali Gilling is a trauma-informed breathwork, yoga and mindfulness practitioner who has been travelling extensively around the globe as a nomadic yogini for over 25 years, running retreats and workshops internationally since 1999.

Her journey began in India in 1993, discovering ashram life, studying 1-2-1 training with her teacher for 2 years.

She continues to expand her knowledge through ongoing training courses and personal development. Ali offers a heartfelt space empowering her clients to improve their physical, emotional and mental well-being, releasing blocked trauma through somatic release and the power of the breath, enabling their own healing journey and personal transformation.

She is a senior mentor with Integrative Breath Facilitator Training offering both in-person and online monthly breathwork ceremonies, women’s circles alongside coaching 1-2-1 with clients.

She has trained as a Mental Health First Aider, where she works with anxiety and stress reduction through both mindfulness and breathwork.

Ali runs her own retreats and also is often invited in as a guest teacher to host breathwork sessions. 

Ali is open for collaborations, bringing breath awareness and mindfulness for optimum health and self healing.

This week we turn our attention to the world of work and our invitation is to think about how we can collaborate even better - especially when we think about hybrid working patterns. We talk about flow, feedback, trust, empathy and radical candour - amongst other things.

My guest is John Monks. John is the co-founder of Curve where he leads the facilitation and coaching practice. He’s clocked up many years working with teams in organisations as diverse as NYPD, Coca Cola, the UN and Comic Relief. Over his career, John has shown that a combination of facilitation and coaching is the best way to help organisations solve their own problems and come up with great ideas. An ardent believer in the power of workshops to achieve the impossible, he’s trained many hundreds of people to be experts at designing and delivering workshops and collaborations. 

John is Co-chair of the ActionAid UK board, a mentor on the Cambridge Judge Business School MBA and guest speaker at the WHU Otto Beisheim Business School in Dusseldorf. He speaks at events for corporates, government bodies and civil society groups, and at public events such as the WebIT summit, Digital Shoreditch and the UN-sponsored Design for Social Innovation & Leadership program.
