Some questions to ask ourselves from todays podcast:

1. When it comes to the appearance of our body, what defines good?
2. Do I have to work to get there?
3. How do I know when I have arrived?
4. What am I picturing will happen when I get there?
5. How am I thinking I will feel then?
6. What is preventing me from feeling that way now? 

So, how do I view my body?  What are the things I tell myself about my body when I look in the mirror? Where are those voices coming from? What are they based on?

I dislike the word "fat", and discourage the use of it in my home, yet it is a real word and one that can describe how we feel. It's heartbreaking when our girls may use a word like this to describe themselves. In today's podcast we talk about the reality that our girls may feel unhappy with their bodies, and especially focus on this frequent challenge - a precious daughter feeling "fat". We talk about how we can respond to her in a way that makes her feel heard, how we can be her ally, and some things we can do to help her navigate it.

Does it concern you when your girl isn't taking self-care seriously?  Whether it's not getting to sleep when she should, or drinking enough water versus other drink options- we want our daughters to take care of themselves so that they can think or perform well in school and be healthy and well. Plus we know they won't always be under our care where we can set some boundaries and provide balanced meals. We want them to thrive now, and know how to continue doing so when they leave home to college or whatever are the next steps in their lives.  Today I talk about the first step we, as moms and mother figures can take to help our girls start to recognize the importance and value of self-care.

At Momz With Girlz, to be honest, we haven't figured it all out either - we are in the trenches too, but we are about walking this journey together in community, learning from the Word of God, from each other, and from smart people who have figured out a lot of things that we can do along the way.
