About Hammed Kayode Alabi ,Hammed is passionate about education access in underserved communities and for young people with forced migration backgrounds. Growing up in a slum “Makoko-Nigeria” education became his lifeline, and he has dedicated 14 years to working in the space. Started as a teacher at the age of 15 and later found a nonprofit “KLCI '' that has helped 6500+ children in underserved communities in Nigeria develop life and 21st-century skills. He also completed his Masters degree in Africa and International Development at the University of Edinburgh through the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship and researched the MasterCard Foundation-Foundation for All (FFA) project, a bridging educational programme that prepares refugee learners for higher education in Uganda through blended learning. He specifically explores the experiences of refugees in accessing higher education in Uganda and currently works as the Educational Mentoring Coordinator with Refugee Education UK, where he connects young refugees/asylum seekers to mentors for educational support. Prior to this, he worked as a Young Refugee Project Coordinator with the British Red Cross, where he helps young refugees/asylum seekers in London to develop life skills through the Refugee and Befriending Programme. He also worked as a Regional Manager at Peace First where he supported youth-led movements and projects in more than 30+ countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. He is currently a board member of the same organisation and supports global youth-led changemaking. Hammed recently spoke as a UNESCO youth delegate at the Pre-Summit of the Transforming Education Summit at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris where he shared his vision to revolutionise 21st-century skills based education. He has written two books and authored over 192 articles focusing on personal, community, and global development.
