The Mormon Newscast: Mormonish Edition

In a stunning shift, the LDS Church has officially acknowledged the existence of a once denied Revelation—where Jesus Christ appeared and reiterated that polygamy doctrines are everlasting and eternal. For decades, LDS leaders downplayed or outright dismissed the revelation's authenticity. So what changed?

In this episode of Mormon Newscast, we break down the Church’s new admission, explore the timing and historical context behind it, and examine why this moment matters—not just for historians, but for every Latter-day Saint wrestling with the gap between what’s claimed and what’s admitted when it comes to this super charged subject of polygamy, past, present, and future.

We also cover a Bishops endorsement of a sex offender, a Cody WY LDS Temple update in addition to other temple news, Candidates for Potential Mormon Monuments, a BYU professor using a derogatory bug analogy, and more! All the news you need to keep up to date and informed on The Mormon Newscast.

Thank you so much for watching The Mormon Newscast and Mormonish Podcast!

The accusations include rape, strangulation, and biting, with the alleged victim claiming police discouraged her from pressing charges. Out Other Stories:

– Utah Judge Under Fire: GOP lawmakers are demanding the resignation of a Utah judge who let a child sex offender off without prison time. Critics are calling it a miscarriage of justice; defenders say context matters. Our legal expert breaks it down.

– Fairview Temple Update: Tensions escalate in Texas as the LDS Church pushes its controversial temple height proposal. We’ve got the latest from Fairview’s zoning frontlines.

– Holy Threads Go Viral: Yes, it’s real. The New York Times covers the rise of “tank top garments” in Mormon culture—and not everyone is keeping cool.

– Confirmed: Joseph Smith Practiced Polygamy: A prominent LDS historian just shattered a lingering apologetic myth. We explore what this admission means for faithful members still hanging on to unlikely narratives.

– An Open Plea to the Amish: Calls for an end to shunning in Amish communities, raising compelling ethical questions about religious ostracism and psychological harm.

Tonight on the Mormon Newscast, the LDS Church quietly agrees to a landmark settlement involving over 100 sexual abuse lawsuits in California. We’ll break down what the “settlement in principle” actually means, how it connects to a new Utah law aimed at child protection, and whether any real accountability is on the horizon—or if this is just more institutional damage control.

Also in the lineup we will discuss Temple Updates, Michelle Stone’s Content Vanishing Act, A New Catholic Pope Leo XIII, and a New Mission Opening in Atlantis?

All this and more as we dig past the headlines, connect the dots, and call out the gaslighting—because the truth deserves daylight, and sometimes a little salt.

Tonight on the Mormon Newscast, we begin with a major update from Michelle Stone, the face of the polygamy denier movement and host of the "132 Problems" podcast. In a surprising turn, Stone has announced she’s stepping away from her Podcast and it's YouTube Channel. We’ll unpack what led to her departure and if the Church played a role.

Also in this episode:

We bring you the final word from Fairview, Texas, as the town council delivered its decision on the controversial LDS temple proposal.

Meanwhile, in a twist of iconography, crosses—long taboo in LDS culture—are quietly making a comeback. Is this doctrinal drift or just design trend? We’ll also explore a Latter-day Petroleum Ruse and ask the question, will the LDS church return this allegedly unethical tithing?. We also take a look at one drugged man's attempt to go to Church. And finally, we’ll examine growing concerns about the Mormon Stories podcast—what’s being said, and whether there’s real cause for caution.

Stay tuned for sharp analysis, smart questions, and a few laughs along the way.
