We begin with a look at the continuing impact the Pandemic is having on the mental health of Canadians.  Specifically, in Children. We speak with a Professor of Child Development for some tips on how parents recognize mental health issues in their kids and the resources available to help in our Province.

Next, it’s the story of a local man doing what he can to help Ukrainians in their battle against the Russian Invasion. We speak with Riaz Mamdani who’s behind a unique program delivering medicine and essential goods to the people in the war-torn country, using Drones.

Then we look at the climate crisis through a different ‘lense’. We speak with Dr. Britt Wray about her new book “Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in an Age of Climate Crisis”. Dr. Wray offers up suggestions on how to best approach the conversation surrounding the topic with our kids, without creating irrational anxiety.

Finally, ‘Flames Fever’ is in full swing! Our on-air contributor Dave McIvor put on his jersey to get fully immersed in the ‘sea of red’, taking in the Red Lot at Stampede Park for game 5 and talking with business owners about the positive impact the playoffs are having on their businesses. 

The greater sage-grouse is possibly one of Canada's most-endangered species. There are a lot of factors threatening their existence, like habitat loss and extreme weather. Dr Axel Moehrenschlager joined us to share how he is working to restore the grouse population. 

We begin with a look at the concept of a 4-day work week. Has the pandemic changed the way we work forever and does this mean it’s time to look at ‘shortening’ the current 5-day work week model? We discuss with a Professor of Economics from the University of Toronto.

It’s a new approach to health-care that takes the focus off of medicine to promote healthy living through a healthy diet. We hear details on the new “Fresh Food Prescription Program” running in Guelph, Ontario.

Next, it’s our monthly conversation with Dr. Axel Moehrenschlager, Director of Conservation and Science at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. This time out, Dr. Moehrenschlager brings us the story of the endangered “Sage-Grouse”.

And finally, it’s a big part of our radio station, our annual “Calgary Children’s Foundation” radiothon, which takes place each December. Yesterday was ‘disbursement day’,the day the foundation’s board members choose which local organizations will receive dollars raised during the fundraising drive.
