Outgoing Director for Lynchburg Humane Society, Makena Yarbrough, joined the program to talk about their efforts to make space for animals who may need shelter following Hurricane Florence. Captain Trey Jones with the Salvation Army of Lynchburg joined the program to talk about the shelter that will be open at their location by the Red Cross in case locals need somewhere to go pending storm damage. He also talks about their disaster response efforts on the way

This week's "Rising Star" is presented by Gentry Locke Attorneys. Hanan Davis is a 17-year-old artist who attends the World Community Education Center in Bedford. She recently painted the "Together We Thrive" mural located at the Community Market in Downtown Lynchburg. She walks us through designing the mural and how she decided to couple the mural with her Girl Scouts Gold Award project. She also shares her love for working with people.
