My friendship with Nicole Cress began with a Facebook comment, a road trip through Jacksonville, and her willingness to stay at the unofficial Sax in Jax Airbnb. By her second visit, we were sitting down to record a conversation.

Nicole is a multi-passionate person who is learning how to pursue the things that make her feel alive while still enjoying the life she has right now. We talk about slowing down without trying to escape, making room for multiple passions, finding friendship through online communities, and taking chances on new people and unfamiliar places.

This conversation is a reminder that sometimes one small yes can open the door to an unexpected friendship and possibly a newfound love for Jacksonville and its beaches.

This week, I’m sitting down with my friend Sarah Verus for a conversation that covers a whole lot of life from growing up in Germany as a missionary kid to homeschooling her own children, walking through divorce, and discovering what faith looks like when life doesn’t go according to plan.

We talk about how to walk through singleness well, the role the church can play in that season, and what it looks like to build a healthy mindset along the way. And then, somewhere in the middle of it all, Sarah turned the microphone on me and asked a question that led us somewhere I wasn’t expecting.

It’s a longer conversation, but it’s an honest one full of faith, perspective, and the lessons we pick up through the seasons we never would have chosen for ourselves.
