Kerry Barrett used to have a fear of public speaking. Not a rational fear, like so many have. No, this fear was crippling—to the point where the very thought of it would send her into the proverbial fetal position, paralyzed by anxiety and insecurity. So, how did she end up with a 20+ year career in the news business speaking to an audience of millions every day? She followed her passion.

Kerry loves a good story—a passion that was born out of a childhood spent overseas. She was always interested in learning about other people—their cultures, how they lived and their personal stories. This influenced not only her career path in communications, but also her innate ability to recognize interesting stories in others.

She pursued a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Communication Studies in Journalism from Clemson University, where she had no choice but to face her public-speaking phobia, head-on. She was not willing to let anxiety and self-doubt stand in the way of following a career that fueled her life’s true passion. Over time, with hard work and a splash of self-confidence, she didn’t just kick that once crippling fear to the curb, she turned it into one of her core strengths.

Kerry Barrett spent the next two decades in front of the camera as a broadcast news anchor, reporter and producer for a number of reputable outlets, including NBC, ABC and Fox, to name a few. In those roles, she earned several notable accolades, including a first-place award with the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), an Emmy Award in Breaking News, an RTNDA Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence and a Utah Broadcasters Association award.

In early 2019, she decided to take her passion in a new direction. With that she founded Kerry Barrett Consulting, a full-service public speaking and media training boutique. Today, she helps others bring their stories to life with confidence and personality.

Amber is the Owner and Attorney at Fuhriman Law, a law firm she operates in Las Vegas, Nevada. Amber practices Criminal Defense and Immigration Law. She graduated from Law School in Michigan and immediately moved to Vegas to begin her career. In 2013, she passed the Nevada Bar Exam and dove head first into the legal world, representing clients in immigration and criminal courts, including jury trials and appellate arguments in front of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. 

Throughout her educational and professional career, Amber always thought there would be a moment where everything would fall into place, as she calls it, her "I'll be happy when moment." When the moment never came, Amber started to realize her entire identity had been tied up in being an attorney and chasing accomplishments to fill a void that accomplishments could never fill. 

Amber's road to becoming a coach began in 2016 when she dug into personal development. Since 2016, Amber has pushed the boundaries of her self-imposed physical and mental limitations, living outside her comfort zone as much as possible and learning about how the mind works and how our limiting beliefs affect our success. Reggie Walker is a retired NFL linebacker. Spending parts of 7 years in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers, and Denver Broncos, Reggie seemingly had it all but there was much more bubbling under the surface that was desperately trying to get out. 

Reggie is a survivor of and advocate against mental, physical, and sexual abuse. His journey through life eventually led him to football which gave him an outlet to be as physical and violent as possible. Reggie had so much anger, so much rage he was lucky to find football. He described having a hard time feeling and was constantly living life to the extreme, describing it like "hanging off the edge of a cliff by your pinky toe."

Eventually, this way of life became exhausting. The lines between his persona in the NFL and the Reggie who was a captain on the field, a leader off the field, and someone who continually provided support for those around him were starting to blur. After his daughter told him she did not feel comfortable around him, he knew it was time to make a change. Through rehab centers and therapy, Reggie eventually brought himself out of the depths to be the man you hear on this episode.

Marty Ray is an indie artist that will always be an indie artist. He has amassed a fan base of over 1.2 million fans and 200+ million views across all social media platforms. “I’m just a guy that God out here to sing and write songs, some people seem to like em”.
